Magic Christmas Cruise 2010 (Dec 18th - 29th) - PART II

Thanks again for everyone's vote so far.

Glad to see everyone is finally getting cabin assignments and congrats to those who received upgrades!

Wow, this is getting very exciting! I can hardly concentrate on my work with all the new posts. Congrats to all the upgrades! I need to remember that for future cruises, although I know you can't count on it.

For the split/no-split FE vote: Why don't we divide into 2 groups, but the folks who want no-split just go into both groups? That way they would give to everyone, and receive from everyone. The split groups would be slightly bigger than half - maybe 38 instead of 30, but at least it wouldn't be 60+. Then everyone would get what they want!

My DH voted for me, so don't think I get my own vote (unless I cancel his out - just like many elections! :rolleyes1

Can someone send the link to the door magnet site? I looked all over the main DISboard site but couldn't find it.

Looking forward to the wine tasting, CC5K, Palo, dressing as a Villan (how??), and ornament exchange! Looking forward to everything!

Wow, my 4th DCL cruise and I have always had a steamer trunk in the cabin. I had no idea that there were some cabins without! It will pose a serious space problem for clothes if we don't have one for such a long cruise. You guys may see our family wearing many layers! Maybe I'll just stack the suitcases on the balcony...

On another issue~Congrats to those who recieved their upgrades and cabin #'s after patiently waiting!:dance3:

The Passporter guide gave me good advice about putting suitcases under the bed. You can use them to store the stuff you don't need all the time - snorkel gear, gifts, costumes, etc. I will have to look to see if it states the clearance, but my airline carry-ons slid under fine. It kept our closet and steamer trunk fairly empty for every day stuff (like wine! :rotfl2:).

Can someone please translate our room assignment for me?? I just booked on Oct 3rd, and selected a GTY12 (because I didn't know if Uncle Sam would come through with my vacation!). Our room assignment says #6085. I thought that all Cat 12 were on Deck 2? That's good then, right??

Also, Tink, please, please add us to the Fishy list!!
DW - Melissa
DH - Paul
DD5 - Anna Marie

I vote no split.

And DVC, Paul & I would LOVE to partake in the wine tasting, if it's not too late.

I'm sorry, but being a new board-er, I can't PM yet!!

Counting down the days until the long flight home.....

Hi Melissa,

It's not to late for the wine tasting so I will add you guys to the list. Right now I have just your first names and your cabin number so once you get to 10 posts you will be able to PM and then you can send me last names and your reservation number. I can add people up to a week before the cruise so no worries.

Congrats on the upgrade and you are across the hall from my parents. They are in 6084. My dad was in the Air Force for 20 years and my mom loves little ones so I will tell them to keep an eye out for you guys.

Have a great day!

If I remember correctly, the clearance under the bed is 9". You can just lift up the bed and slide your luggage under if you need to. I also love packing with duffles since they fold flat!

Does anyone know if you can prepay part of your onboard account online? I have some rebate and gift cards I've been saving up for the trip and instead of having to carry them all down to guest services throughout the trip, I'd love to go ahead and apply them to my onboard account before we leave. I know we'll spend at least as much as what I have!

Liz - this is another way to handle the FE list and I am fine with that. What does everyone else think? I also want to make sure it's okay with tinkmischief since she is doing the list.

Here is the link for door magnets. Jordak is on vacation right now but milliepie and a couple of others are still doing magnets right now.

Your FE suggestion is brilliant! That MBA really paid off. :teacher:

I wouldn't have bothered voting if I had known that you were not going to cancel it out. :rolleyes1

... now get back to work so we can pay for this cruise. :surfweb:

luv ya

Mickey Teachers are in room 6515

German Mickey is in room 6303

I guess we got upgraded from 12 to 11. I have never stayed on this level. Should be interesting. Maybe I can get upgraded at the port. Probably not. But, I am so happy to be on the ship as a tourist and not working on the ship. Not that I have ever worked on the ship.
Now, back to work.

Congrats to everyone who recieved their upgrades!:banana::banana:
Looks like there are plenty of us on deck 2:cool1:

So who is going to try to upgrade at port? We are more than happy with ours and feel lucky to have connecting rooms. So we wont be in the upgrade at port race.

Think Liz's idea for the FE is a really good one.:thumbsup2

Is there still going to be a secret Mickey santa? Not really heard much about it but i'm sure I sent a PM to join in.:confused3

I would like to apologize in advance for the spam about to ensue.... I am trying to reach my PM quota, so I thought I'd post some random thoughts....

I am super excited about the upcoming cruise during my R&R! I think, though, I may becoming unhealthily obsessed. Between the custom pillow case, FE, door magnets, pirate costumes, dresses/tux/shoes, port excursions, etc., etc., etc.....I have spent more time on eBay and Amazon in the past two weeks than in the past 10 years!

And of course, in true military fashion, I have created an excel spreadsheet to aid in the planning and packing. I really need a vacation!! Oh well, at least it helps take my mind off of being here!!

Thanks for listening!

Uh-oh, I must be unheathily obsessed too! My planning and shopping starts months in advance and I am a habitual list-maker! As a matter of fact, I have our entire itinerary plans and vacation budget in an Excel workbook! :rotfl:

I suspect you are in VERY good company in our thread and on the DIS boards in general! Gotta make the most of your precious leave time!

Y'all are scaring me. I am flying by the seat of my pants.

Another obsessive planner here!

I couldnt get through without lists!
I spend hours making and editing my lists and searching those same sites.
I even enjoying buying things on the list knowing that when I get home I can edit them off!:confused3

Would someone more clever than me do something for me? Go to the disneycruiseline website and search for our cruise, using 2 adults and 2 children, 7 and 9, as a base and choose Cat 5 for your stateroom. Then, where you can choose your stateroom, go look on the map. Right now, there are two fives available, 7586 and 7086. We are in room 7576 and there is this little bump out line thingie right at our number. Can someone please tell me what this is? I really need something else to obsess about.

Melissa - you are doing tactical planning for optimal enjoyment :thumbsup2

Congrats on room assignments and upgrades and that can only mean that the trip is on the horizon :dance3:

Wow!! I'm so excited that I can actually answer this one! I believe, based on previous posts, that the bump out indicates that your room has a steamer trunk (small stand up storage unit).

If you look at the posts of the past couple of days, you can find a link to a spreadsheet of such rooms and some photos of the single and double trunks.

I thought that is how everyone plans for the trip.

First, you create the excel sheet and then you begin adding and taking away items that are needed. Second, you begin gathering the items into one area of your home.
Third, you start packing.
Fourth, you pack the last minute packing.
Fifth, you make copies of the excel sheet and your list of what everyone is doing each day.
Sixth, you put all of this information in a nice binder with graphics.
Seventh, you relax.
