Magic Christmas Cruise 2010 (Dec 18th - 29th) - PART II

DH will not be in a tux, but he will be in a suit. I will be in longer dresses for the formals. DD will be in what I think are appropriate dresses for the formals (and other dresses probably 8 of the other 9 evenings). Christmas I have what she was going to wear here: a l/s red pinwhale corduroy dress with a peter pan collar. I hope the other formal is at AP, her dress is white with black organza ribbon embroidered all about it mimicking vining flowers (The Children's Place).

Don't say that...because I thought that too! I'm sure it's not possible to have too many dresses though...:rolleyes1

Definitely not in the closet - the suitcase might pose a slight problem. :headache: But DH has just pointed out that my formal matches one set of dresses that I got for the girls, but not really the other one. So I'm thinking burgundy for Christmas....:rolleyes1

I'm in a football quandary tonight. My Redskins will play the hated Cowboys for the first game of the season. But it'll be something like 2am here at kickoff. I guess I don't need to actually be awake when I walk into work a few hours later.

True, but you do have to be awake to get the girls out the door in the morning

Bedtime!!!!

Season opener against a hated rival? Yeah, sleep is so overated. :thumbsup2

I can say I never cheer for Dallas.;)

We'll be dressing for formal night, boys in suits - not tux and girls in long dresses but we are plan to wear it for both formal nights (although my eldest daughter and I may swap dresses to wear on the second :))

Thanksgiving seems kind of late for a deadline for joining the FE. I had looked into getting something printed and there would be about a 3 week lag time, which would get to TN after we have already left. If I order 50 now hoping we get that many and then have 2 FEs I'll have a couple dozen left over. I've got something set I'm making for the older kids, but I'll have to do something very basic for the little kids not knowing how many there will be. What about a Nov 1st deadline?

Caryn
That sure would work better for me, since I'd only have a WEEK to get things finalized :scared1: But then again, if I have extras.........more fun for me ....... :lmao:

I have a question for you experienced cruisers...princess:My daughter will be two months away from being three when we go. I have heard that if she's potty trained they might let her go to the kids club. I guess I more looking for opinions on moving her up to the kids club or making reservations for the nursery. Looking through the pictures it looks like the nursery might be kind of boring for her (she has 3 big brothers) but I worry about her having an accident if she goes to the kids club or maybe being overwhelmed by the older kids....Any suggestions?? Thanks, Eve

We took my youngest Keegan on a cruise in June and he had only been potty training a month. We made sure he went before he went in, showed him where the restrooms were, then came back every hour/ 90 mins to put him again. He did very well and we ended up leaving him a couple of hours inbetween after a couple days. He only had one accident and that was when he had a Buzz suit on and didnt know how to take it off. The councellors were really good with him. He was still in a nightime diaper and after a certain time they let him in with the diaper on in case he fell asleep. If you do decide the nursery is a better choice its worth knowing that the councellors do take some children in the clubs to visit sometimes although its not guarenteed. Also you are able to go in the club/lab and stay with your child any time for any activity. Hope that helps.

DH and I watched the original Tron on TV this weekend, will be great to see the new version on board.:)

Re FE: coming from the UK, we weren't exactly sure when Thanksgiving was for the cut off date but 1st Nov sounds good for us - as the numbers grow I'm beginning to worry that we won't have enough space/weight allocation unless everything is going to be very small/light :)

Our Canadian Thanksgiving is in October so the first of November cut off for the FE sounds good to me!

Thank you for the well wishes for DD.:) She is doing amazingly well. She was able to go to the A's game with her Dad last night! Today she was suppose to be doing basketball try-out. She was sad to miss try-outs, but went with her Dad (a coach) to watch all her old teammates try-out. She even took some markers to have everyone 'sign' her cast.

Last night, we booked all our airfare . :thumbsup2We are using my DH frequently flier miles...thank goodness he travel so much for work.lol We are going to do an over-night flight on Dec 16th, arriving in MCO at about 10 am on Dec 17. We are planning on staying at one of the Hilton Hotel (more free points) near WDW that night and doing the MVMCP. In the morning we will drive to the port. We hope to be there early... we want to check the cost of upgrading our rooms. ;)

Tonight after the kids go to bed, I need to purchase our tickets for the MVMCP.:thumbsup2

Just tried to talk DH into MVMCP. No go. (actually when I saw the video that was mostly parades, I said -- No way! :scared1:) We are focused on Harry Potter the following day and will be doing a long drive that early AM/afternoon and, really, walking around Downtown Disney is what makes most sense. Esp. with DD's birthday on that Sat, I don't like to do too much 'Christmas' stuff til her birthday has passed. (How's that for a rationalization?):rotfl:

I have been off the boards for a while. Busy getting 3 kids settled into the school routine. Just came back and WOW these boards have been busy! I am having so much fun catching up :yay:
I can't believe our cruise is three months away. Time to start thinking about formal dresses, formal attire for boys, pirate costumes pirate:, and FE. Not to mention shore excursions, Disney World, Harry Potter,Christmas gifts :santa:,and all that fun stuff. I had better get busy! :rolleyes1
Any recommendations for great excursions on any of the islands?:confused3 Thanks :)

Hopefully it's not too late to chime in...just casting my vote for moving up the FE date to Nov 1st. {And still hoping for 2 groups should the FE hit 40'ish} Just sayin'...;)

ETA: Don't foget that the Disney World Moms Panel is accepting applications starting tomorrow...AND...they're looking for moms with special knowledge with regard to Disney Cruise Line and Adventures by Disney (as per the Disney Parks Blog!)...

Hi Everyone:wave:

My daughter (tinkmischief) finally got me here on the boards. She got us the cruise as a Christmas surprise last year. This will be my first cruise - super excited
Will have to go back and catch up on the boards, my daughter has been filling me in and signing me up :lmao: for all the fun stuff!! In the meantime thought I would pop in and say Hello...and get my post count up :thumbsup2

Thank you for the reminder, Darcie :)

Hello Madge! Our first family cruise, too - the days are going by so quickly. I hope it slows up when we are on the ship :goodvibes

This group is hopping. I cannot wait to meet all of you. :cool1:

disneycruising- I hope your DD gets well soon, and she is in for one special treat.
bigAWL- Thanks for sharing the pictures. What a wonderful experience for your children. The picture of the giraffe gave me the chills. Incredible!
BigHugsforEeyore- I love dressing up so I am in for all the formal nights. I purchased some fabulous dresses at Ross (Dress for Less). Great deals.
BBQMommy- I am sooo jealous. I love Harry Potter. I am counting the days until the movie opens this November. Take a lot of pictures to share.
Craftygramma- Welcome to the boards. We are a very lively group.

In regard to the FE, I am happy with the November 1st deadline. I will be open with one big group or two smaller groups. I finally ordered my last few FE items. We are just looking forward to participating in another FE.

Onboard there will be some great new Disney movies. That is just one more thing in a very long list of things that I am looking forward too.

We spent today at Disneyland. It was fabulous! Nightmare before Christmas opens this Friday! Wow! While we were watching the parade, my DH was listening to the football game. What a Grumpy!

I hope everybody has a great week. This is my first five day work week this school year. I have two nights of Back to School Nights and one Confirmation class for DD.

Take care and talk to you soon.

:cool1: Hi Mom Welcome to the boards hee!

Way cool pictures big AWL - thanks for sharing!

OK! I think the yays have it...New official deadline for the FE exchange - Nov. 1st. Once that day comes we can see what the tally is and make a decision from there if need be. Okey Dokey? I am sorting thru PMs and such and will have new numbers tonight.

Can't believe we are in double digits :dance3: Won't be long until we are back on the Magic :cloud9:

Oh, Caryn! You're totally gonna have to share your findings. I'm-admittedly-a little food-centric when it comes to vacations. Heck, who am I kidding? I'm a lot food-centric, all the time! :rotfl:

I was wondering if anyone else was interested in going to watch the planes land in St Maarten. There is a place called Sunset Bar and Grill right on the :beach: at the end of the airport runway. Stephen and I are going on an excursion that's over at noon and we're heading over there for lunch and some beach time. If anyone else would be interested, splitting taxi fare would be great....leaving that much more $$$$ for popcorn:: :drinking1 Be warned, some of the photos posted by patrons are of the topless variety.
