Magic Christmas Cruise 2010 (Dec 18th - 29th) - PART II

Ugh! I am so excited about the trip because we booked last week. Making the decision to go got me really thinking about it. Now it's just wait. wait. wait.

Did anyone hear back from Shirley on X-mas basket ideas?

I think there was someone on the thread who was going to post their past X-mas navigators? I would love to see them.

I'm back to checking the Dis boards many times a day looking for a smidgen of info on our cruise.

Anyone else dealing with this kind of excitement? What are you doing to channel it and deal with it?

It's going to be a longggggg 3 months!

I'm so excited too! I log onto the boards several times a day too, just to see if anything new is out there. Sometimes I feel like I spend all day on the computer. :surfweb: I keep talking about things with my DD and she just rolls her eyes  and says "I know Mom we talked about this last week." My family knows that when it gets close like this and I get into planning mode I am going to talk about WDW or DCL all the time.:chat:

I know Joann(3princessmommy) sent Shirley an email but I don't know if she has heard anything back yet. Shirley may not even be thinking about Christmas yet, but I will see if I can give her a call sometime today.

I haven't heard back from Shirley, so feel free to give her a call. It's hard for me to call her from Africa.

I'm going to have a busy three months, so I'm trying to work on my FE gifts and get as much done as possible now.

I have ordered the girls' dresses for formal and semi-formal nights. A few came in the mail yesterday and the girls tried them on. Now they can't grow until January!!!! :lmao:

I'm looking forward to getting the excursions this weekend. DVC could you check again for us and see if any more excursions are sold out yet? I really want to get the special excursions that our DDs have picked for their one-on-two time with Mommy & Papi! If any of those are sold out, I'll need to readjust quickly. :scared1:

Hi Joann,

I will give Shirley a call today to see if we can get some information.

I just checked the excursions for you and it looks like everything is still available. If you want to PM me with specific ones, I can actually check those and see if all the times are available.

I check the boards several times a day also:surfweb:. Then go back to working on my FEs between playing golf and other "must do" things. The yard work never stops and since DH is a bit laid up after dislocating his hip last week, I have the pool to take care of also. We are both so excited about the trip and seeing our "kids" again:dance3:.

Okay, I didn't speak to Shirley, but I did talk to a nice lady at The Perfect Gift. She said they will have the small decorated trees again this year and they will probably run $60-75. This is for a live tree - which cannot be taken off the ship. She also said they will have fake ones too that will probably be cheaper. When I asked about other things she said they can do just about anything including baskets, or fresh greens to put throughout the cabin to have the smell of Christmas. I hope this information helps. If there is something specific you are looking for I would suggest placing a call to them. They are all so sweet and very helpful. The number is 800-950-4559. Or you can check out their website at http://www.theperfectgift.cc/

Thank you for getting the information. :thumbsup2 It gives me something to think about.

Hey guys!

Just a little request if anyone would be willing, could anyone pick up any of the mcdonalds madame alexander dolls you can get with the happy meal at the moment. My mum loves these dolls and i would love to surprise her with any amount at christmas. I would obviously pay for whatever it would cost. I just know they wont be there for long now. Just thought it doesn't hurt to ask:rolleyes1

This is the only time we eat at McDonalds and ours in ran out of them early. We drove through San Antonio and pulled over just to buy happy meals for the dolls...not even hungry. Great marketing!!!! If we happen to get duplicates I will save them.

Does anyone have a spouse that will be diving while you are not? I usually take my girls on excursions or leave them on the ship part of the day. Looking to see what you may have planned.

On another note, I'm sure some of you enjoyed the end of the Cowboys game on Sunday. I'm from Arlington so still have to cheer for the bad guys.

For Formal nights and Palo, we wear all our nicer clothes twice or mix them up. It does not bother me to be seen in the same outfit twice on a cruise. The problem is going on two a year and trying not bring the same dress...my pictures get confusing.

Please help me make up my mind. My family is going on either this cruise or the Panama Canal Cruise on January 6, 2011 and I can't decide which to do. I really want to go through the Panama Canal and have wanted to since watching the Love Boat 30+ years ago, but the FL resident rate is offered for your cruise.

Should I wait to see what is offered for PC? It seems very slow booking and there are cabins available in every category. We would have to take our son out of school for 2 weeks and burn 2 weeks vacation early in the year. But I want to go throught the PC.

On the other hand, the Christmas cruise is avaialble now. I've been to all the islands except Guadalupe (and maybe Martinique but not sure). So it's nothing really new. I have 2 weeks vacation left for 2010 and the kid will miss only 2 days of school.

Compelling arguments either way.....I can't decide but don't want the FL resident rates to disappear if I wait......

Can anyone convince me one way or the other? Thanks,

Chris

Well we would love to have you sail with us!

I understand with the PC cruise though its somthing i have always wanted to do.
What are you priorities when cruising? If its the ports of call then maybe the PC cruise is better?

Is it easier for you to go port canaveral boarding/disembarking or is it not a problem going from LA. How much does it bother you that your sons miss school? Im pretty laid back but i know others who do not like to miss any school days. Also what would you do with your holidays if you did not join us?

How about both cruises now that would be my ideal solution:rotfl:

Man I so wish DW would have the same thoughts.. Last year she had 3 outfits per day, 5 bikini / swimsuits and 9 pair of shoes for the cruise.. it was 7 days.. :rolleyes1 Now the cruise is 11 days.. and there are two ladies in our house..:teacher: I figure my son and I will have to fit all of our clothes in a carry-on..

Dr. Amy when you read this.... I LOVE YOU and :love:carrying your luggage... you know that. :flower3::hug:

Not having to miss school is huge... :thumbsup2

Also... can someone explain to me what the deal is with Florida rates...:confused3

Does Mickey like you guys better... ;)

but the PC is VERY tempting.. popcorn::

Is there a John and Elizabeth cruising who are asking for the access to the Facebook page?

I also have Vicki K., Jeanne O., Joan S., Pamela S.J., and Richard B. with older requests that I have not been able to match to disboards names.

Vicki K here and requesting a Facebook invite.

Hi! I am new to this forum and not sure if I'm posting correctly. We are the John and Elizabeth who have requested access to the Facebook page. We are sailing on the Christmas cruise with our 3 kids (16, 15, and 13), and Mom and Aunt. We can't wait! I would like the kids to participate in the secret santa, and am interested in communicating with fellow cruisers! :santa:

I don't know if I can convince you or not, but I say cruise with us!

I do understand the tough decision though. I would love to cruise the Panama Canal but it always happens when DD is in school and there is no way she would let me take her out of school for 2 weeks. Of course, she is 14 and in 9th grade. If she was younger I might be able to get away with it.

:welcome:Welcome Aboard and Welcome to the DIS Boards:welcome:

My DD(14) will love to see more kids her age. Do you mind me asking if your kids are boys or girls. DD is trying to connect with some girls her age before we cruise. She is on facebook and is trying to talk to a couple of other girls on our cruise although I don't think she has done much yet but friend them.
