Magic Christmas Cruise 2010 (Dec 18th - 29th) - PART II

So much for the possibility of a connecting cabin upgrade at port...:sad1:

Don't give up hope. I just checked and Cat 6 was showing available. The only categories not available were 10 & 7 and then the suites. Not sure what DCL inventory is doing but I think it changes all the time.

Thanks for all of the welcomes. Having covered over 130 pages of posts, I feel like I know many of you already.

Can't believe how the excitement level has skyrocketed in our family over the last 48 hours. Although we have not yet told our 6 year old DS because he would already be packed and ready to go. We will wait until December for him.

The biggest disadvantage to booking so late is that some of the excursions are already closed and the only time available at Palo is on the first night. Can't really see ourselves saying "Welcome aboard for our family vacation kids. Now Mom & I are going to eat by ourselves." Guess we will have to see what is available when we board.

We ate at Palo the first night this summer. It was like having your own private restaurant, very nice. My kids were happy to get to the kids club early since it usually the 2 or 3 day before making it in. We just did not have much time to get ready for dinner, but who cares, we were in party mode. The other advantage is you do not miss some of the other dinner nights in your restaurant and it is always the same routine at dinner the first night. Enjoy and welcome!

Greetings -

I have not had as much opportunity to be on the boards as much as I would have liked over the past few weeks. I need to try to catch up on the postings. I would ask about what everyone is doing for Halloween, but y'all have probably been discussing this.

We have an outdoor Halloween party tonight for DD12. The temperatures have been warm and humid this past week, but we have our first frost warning for tonight. We will be dressing warmly.

We may be going to Scarowinds tomorrow, which is Carowinds (theme park in the Carolinas) Halloween party.

Trick or Treating is Sunday night for our neighborhood.

Since we are booking so late in the process, we are getting shut out on some of the excursions. Our "Type A" oldest DD wants to mountain bike, hike or canyoneer her way across the Caribbean and some of her favorite choices have already closed.

We will continue to check until boarding to see if there are any openings but have people had any luck being added to an excursion once on board?

We have booked excursions while on board. And the excursion desk seems to be a popular place during the cruise, so people are booking them while on-board. If possible, you should also check on-line a few days before the cruise. I think the cancellation policy is two days before the cruise departs, so there may be some last minute cancellations.

Welcome Disneydash! Happy Wednesday everybody.

:offtopic:
How many of your kids have Bieber fever? Tonight is his concert, and we have a full blown case of Bieber fever in our household.
Code:

I am catching up a little on some of the past pages. Definitely Bieber Fever in our household, especially with DD14. We have four tix to his concert the night before we leave for the cruise. Not sure if it will be the family going, or if we let DD's each bring a friend. With that second option, DW and I can take care of last minute packing.

I signed up to participate.

Anyone have a suggestion of where I might find the correct size collapsable cooler to carry on? How many carry-ons can we bring? DH might want Diet DP and I'd like to bring some wine and a couple premixed margarita bottles. Or not...the holiday drinks of the day sounded very yummy. I might have to walk with the groups at 6, 7 & 8am....:yay:

We bought a small roll on cooler at Walmart for this cruise. It has a removable plastic shell that we will pack in our suitcase. It is bigger than Disney suggests but it will fit through the security scanner. We really wanted one on wheels instead of lugging around a case of beer in a duffle all morning.

While mentioning beer, how about baseball! DH and I did get to go to the Ranger's game last Friday night. What an amazing experience, it was so much fun and emotional! My dad has worked there for 39 years, since they started, so you can imagine. Now if they can only get it together this weekend. Watching has been painful. We have too many Halloween parties to make it to Arl. this weekend.
:cheer2: Go Rangers:cheer2:

Hello everyone! We just booked yesterday, our third DCL trip, all three on the Magic.:cool1: I couldn't keep it a secret from the kids, DD 11 and DD 7. We are making a FE & shore plans this weekend. Please add me to the list if it's not too late.

So Excited.

:santa:pirate:

Welcome Vicky! I sent you a PM, maybe we have the same travel plans. Jill from Austin

Just thought I'd share what we received in our FE on the 10/17 cruise. There were 17 cabins.

I'm going to try to make Scottish shortbread at some point this holiday season.

Thank you for sharing the pictures. You can make some of those recipes for your FE, haha. Look forward to meeting you both. I have spent many fun times in New Orleans. I still have my bead collection, that even the kids can't touch
Several people have mentioned doing both groups if it is split, so maybe that's another option...split it into two groups, and everyone who wants to be in both groups can do so? :)

I would like the groups split as well. I think that as long as a group did not get larger than 30 some could participate in both. Otherwise it would defeat the purpose of splitting the group. I believe you are going to see people drop out if it is not split, which is definitely leaving disers out. There are many 1'st timers on here and it would be overwhelming. 25+ cabins is still a big group. I know if we have to bring 50+ gifts, they will be distributed early, not enough space in the cabin to wait until the end.
As far as X-Mas themed gifts, my family would appreciate that. You can never have the perfect gift. What some may love others will not. Do what makes you happy.

Pirate Night: We will probably be in costume. The girls will for sure.pirate:

Hi, My daughter and I are going on the cruise with friends. Booked a few weeks ago. So excited. Hopefully going to do some of the group stuff if I ever figure it out!

I want to sign up too. Do I mention it here or reply to the people at the beginning? Confused.

First time with this. What kind of "stuff" do people give to others in their fish extenders?

How do I place my name on the roll call list. My daughter, Paige (10) and I (Dawn) are traveling with the Hmorale group. Thank you, Dawn

We plan on going to the store the day after Halloween to pick up Pirate costumes and Disney princess dresses for DD. I'm guessing everything will be at least 50 percent off.

CruisinNick: I am so glad you got those stockings from Tues. Morn. They are great! A steal for the $. Don't forget a few zip ties so they stay put!

Big Awl (Aaron) is handling the first page listing of group activities and the roll call. As soon as he sees your post, he will add you. Welcome to the group. As you can see by the number of posts, it is quite lively. Everyone looking forward to meeting.:yay:

My vote for the FE is to split it :D (Well my mum's vote really as I had a text saying can I vote as it's under my stateroom lol but I agree with her)

Our family (well me and my DSister) are huge Harry Potter fans.

I'm flying home on Halloween, however my last day working in the kids club tomorrow (I'm a youth councillor for a British Holiday Company working overseas :D) and we're holding a Halloween Cookie Party for the children, as they're all flying home on Halloween too. Even the Hotel we work in is having a party on the Saturday. You could say that I'm flying home on a Nimbus EasyJet instead of a Nimbus Two Thousand lol. Can't wait to get home after six months and start getting exicted about the cruise, I've been bragging to all my work mates about it (Christmas with Mickey Mouse:santa:!)
