I've always been fascinated by the history and construction of WDW. I made a little 4 minute film for all those on here who feel the same way. Maybe time is inter dimensional and we can all go back some day when it was just the Contemporary and the Poly and 27,000 acres of wild pine and swamp!
Enjoy! PS This is the new version!!!

That's awesome!

What an incredibly complex project, even by today's standards.

Thanks for sharing that.

What a great video, Tim!!! Thanks for compiling and sharing.

Quite a number of photos I had not seen before. Had seen a lot , but a lot also I had not. Really nice. And Paul's Magic was a nice and appropriate touch.

Thanks. :thumbsup2

Great video! Those photos brought back lots of memories from my childhood visits to WDW. Also fun seeing the construction photos.

Thanks Dan.
I'm traveling here in Thailand and have lots of free time to hang out on the net…Made the video last night but have been searching for photos for a very long time and compiling them. Surprisingly they are still very rare considering it was such an enormous project.
Think I might do an Epcot film as well.
Glad you enjoyed it.

That was great, Tim! It brought back sooooo many childhood memories. Thanks for taking the time to put that together and sharing it here.

Great video!

Apologies for hijacking your thread but as you're into the history you might be able to help me. I'm looking for a photo of RCMP from when Epcot opened. My friend's husband was one of the officers there and I would love to see the photo - he was told that the photo is somewhere in the park but he doesn't know where.

Any ideas??

Hijack away!
I would guess its somewhere in Canada World Showcase.
I'll be working on a sequel to Magic Beginnings about Epcot construction and opening.. maybe I'll find it! It takes many hours of searching to find good photos from the day...

What a cool video! Thank you for sharing! I enjoyed watching it and trying to align it with present-day Magic Kingdom :) I think my favorite was the two men standing in the dry bed of the Rivers of America, in front of the Haunted Mansion!

I think I might be showing my nerd-dom here, but, the photo at 2:54 - is that of Disneyland? It looks like the two-story COP building, with the DL-style Peoplemover cars (with roofs) in the right rear of the photo. If not, do you know where that is (well, was) in WDW?

Thank you so much for posting this. I love Disney history and I had never seen some of these photos before. This was truly awesome :goodvibes.

Thank you, I'll check it out when I get there

Wow! thanks for that wonderful trip down memory lane! My first trip was early 72 when I was just 18. I was scanning the park pics to see if I was in any of them -LOL
I remember what a big deal River Country was when it opened - it was the first water park my kids had ever experienced:thumbsup2
Can't wait to see your Epcot video!
Yep, I remember the Swan ride, too - and Mission to Mars!

yes indeed you are correctomondo!
I shall repair that disinfo pronto! Its most certainly from Land not World!!
Oh boy for historical accuracy I shall endeavor to reupload a new version as soon as I get a good internet feed here in Thailand…may take me a while but it bothers me…
Good eye!
