Magic Bands, Room Keys and Smartphones, OH My!

Yep definitely take as screenshot. We had dinner at the Grand Californian and would have been in a bad way without it. We had planned to charge the meal to the room and the hotel Internet was down when we went to pay so had the screenshot with barcode as the backup. Same for your DVC card.

i take a snapshot of my magic key and make it my Lock Screen picture. I’ve also only asked to see the pass in the app once.

Can you elaborate on what exactly you took a screen shot of to pay for your dinner? Someone said screenshot your ticket…but I assume you don’t mean that. I haven’t been yet, but I plan to charge everything to the room when I’m there.

It was so much easier when your room key worked for everything.
Which has never been the case at Disneyland.

At Disneyland, a room key is like any other hotel room key. It opens your room and hotel gates. It serves as proof that you are staying in the hotel.

Magic Bands can be a convenience but are not a necessity.

Everything else that you listed can be done on the Disneyland App.

In the app you tape on “My Reservations” and then “charge to hotel room”. You will get a screen like this with a barcode that you can snapshot. Note: Mobile ordering was not charging to the room but to Apple Pay and restaurants in DTD do not let you charge to the room. ILL let me charge it to our room.

It has been a while but I seems to remember that when you got the room keys with dates and name, you could at least charge to the room with them.

Does that only work after you've checked in? I'm looking at My Hotel Reservations in the DL app and I don't see a "Charge to hotel room" button.

Btw - per the earlier part of the thread where people were wondering about MB availability:

They're all over the place. Almost anywhere that they have racks of pins - they're often stashed next to those. The big difference - they've (mostly) moved them off the walls and put them on racks. (WoD still has the big wall.) There isn't necessarily a huge array of designs - it seems like mostly the same stuff they've had (with a handful of new things), but there are definitely a lot of them available.

I saw them last week in:

World of Disney
Disney Pin Traders (Downtown Disney)

TomorrowLanding
Westward Ho Trading Company
Emporium

Kingswell
Los Feliz Five & Dime

And I believe all of the hotel gift shops have a small assortment.

World of Disney has the most. Disney Pin Traders often has more unusual choices (ie, the occasional leftover design), as does TomorrowLanding and Westward Ho. I've also found weirder ones occasionally at Kingswell.

Thanks for reporting back. I couldn't remember which thread discussed MB availability. I snapped pics from WOD and the GCH gift shop to give people an idea of the size of the displays. This was from last Thursday.

We always insist on an actual key because you need one to open pool gates and the parking lot, also works better opening the door. We have magic bands but they are kind of useless

Bumping the thread to see whether anyone can answer my question. Thanks in advance!

When I was there back in May, mine didn't show up until I checked in. I did stop by check-in, hoping our room was ready early, and the cast member verified that I was set up to charge to our room.
