Magic Bands info for the new test dates in August

I'm wondering if those that are part of the test are able to get bands without customizing and in preparation for full roll out, they are prompting the rest of us to link tickets to customize so the isn't a system overload when it does fully roll out. Hmmmmm

I was in on the test in June (I wasn't aware of it at the time, I thought they had already rolled the system out, I had signed up for the My Disney Experience website to make use of the Magical Express Bus which, turned out I didn't need to do...). I had reservations at the Contemporary but no passes at the time and I was able to create my Magic Band. (Probably because they're used as room keys too). Later I ordered a Will Call pass and linked it on the website to the band and the pass was automatically setup and on the band when I checked in at the resort.

Very cool.

I only found out I was in the test program when I couldn't get the band to unlock the room door (card key worked fine) and I went down to check-in to point that out and I was beset upon by about a half dozen engineers!
 
It's curiosity. I don't expect them to be delivered. The PP poster just said they were able to customize bands without linking tickets. My pop up, which was brand new yesterday, said to link tickets so I could customize bands in regards to my upcoming trip. I really wasn't paying attention to it because my trip is so far out, but it did peak my curiosity at the time. Either it was a hint to more testing, or roll out.

ETA: It told me I could customize as soon as I linked tickets.

Mine is in oct and I get the other popup LOL
I have my reservation linked.. I'm a DVC member.. Maybe that's not linked yet but who knows.. Time will tell

I don't have a trip and I get that pop up. But it does nothing other than take me to the band/card page.

Very strange! Do you have any tickets linked to you account or an AP? I'm just wondering what is triggering this pop up showing up to even more people now...

It's shown up for me for quite a while. I have an AP but not linked to my account and I already have a gray magic band which does show on the page. I keep hoping they will just let me order one of the color bands if I click on it enough. ;)

Weird! Just when you think you have the "pattern" figured out, LOL! I still click on it even though my MagicBands are sitting on my dresser :rotfl2:

No. Every time I log I. It keeps telling me (in a different pop up) to link my tickets so I can start customizing my bands before my upcoming trip. Before I would have a message, if I clicked on the magic band link, to prompt me to link to my reservation. It's a little different. I'm obviously not part of the test, but Disney does seem to be pushing me to getting a magic band. I'm pretty sure I could customize if I linked my tickets. Not ready to go there yet until I know a little more. Watching testing and info carefully right now.

quick question... I got an email today saying I am part of the magic band and fast pass plus test group. I was so excited got home and logged on to my Disney experience account and the link doesn't let me do anything! Am I doing something wrong? My reservation and park tickets, reservations and family are all linked! Help me I want to make some fast pass ressies!!!

Might have to call Disney IT for help on that one.
 
I just now recently linked my resort reservation (Pop Century August 7 to August 15) to my My Disney Experience account, and the option to manage the MagicBands immediately came up. I've already customized them to Green and Orange. The status of the MagicBands is still "Act quickly! Your order my ship at any moment." I have a few questions about the bands and the new FastPass.

1. Approximately how long will it take for them to change to shipped, now that I've customized them, and will I receive an email with a shipping confirmation and the ability to track the package.

2. I've yet to link tickets to the My Disney Experience, but will do so in the coming week. I'm aware that the MagicBands can be used to enter the parks. Once I've added the tickets to my account, will the MagicBand have that information stored in it to where I can use them as my tickets or are there other hurdles I have to jump through?

3. When will I be able to make FastPass+ Selections?
 
Update! I called IT and they said Disney prematurely sent out emails to guests checking in after Aug.25th ( we are checking in Aug.27th) She said they aren't sure if there is going to be an extension or not that is why my link isn't working :(

I was given the same info. We check into the YC at the end of August and we were told that the test ends with those checking in on 8/25.

I customized Sunday and received the bands Tuesday . I am in Pa. There was no e-mail or anything. It said shipping soon and then on Tuesday it said the bands were active. I came home and there was box...
 
Are we talking about the same popup?

I get one every time I log in, but it just has links to link tickets and reservations, and connecting family and friends. I have trips coming up, but none of them are eligible.

I ordered them on Tuesday 7/16.. by Friday 7/19 they said they had shipped and I received a email from Disney Destinations with a UPS tracking number. They arrived on Monday 7/22. You can make FP+ selections even before you receive them so get busy!!!:) We check in on 8/16 and have not received and official word that we are in the test group but hoping at our 17 day mark which is the 30th we will!!:cool1:

Not neccessarily. I get the "Are you ready for a new kind of magic?" pop up EVERY time I log in. It tells me to link my tickets, but I already have and they show up under my reservations/tickets. But, I can't customize bands or do FP+.
