Magic Bands info for the new test dates in August

Don't think of the grey bands as just grey. Think of them, as my 5 year old did, as "Dumbo bands". :)

All of the colors correspond to iconic Disney characters.

We went through all of the colors:

Red = Lightning McQueen / Incredibles bands
Blue = Dory bands
Orange = Tigger bands
Green = Tinkerbell bands
Pink = Sleeping Beauty pink band
Yellow = Winnie bands
Grey = Dumbo bands

THAT is the CUTEST thing I EVER heard!!!

I'm going to go tell my nine year old son that he chose a Tinkerbell band! :lmao:

MY youngest dd wanted the red because she said it was the color of mic key's pants.

So I got 3 packages from WDW - 12 total bands for my family of 4. Ugh. What a waste of money on their part (we have 3 separate reservations for our upcoming stay).

My tix are from UCT and I was told to bring the tix with and the front desk with link them - not to do it online. So now I cannot reserve any FP ahead of time...hoping that I will have some availability once we get there.

What a mess. I will say, not a fan of this already. Love the concept, hate the execution..

We have 8 we have 3 different reservations as well. LUcky one is the cruise. I think I could have just used the same 4 bands for both reservations. But I only learned that after I ordered. Plus I only read up enough on MB and FP+ to have a clue the past few months as a just in case. Kind of glad I do now.

Good calls! Ok, so we have:

Red = Mickey / Lightning McQueen / Incredibles bands
Blue = Dory / Donald? bands
Orange = Tigger bands
Green = Tinkerbell / Robin Hood bands
Pink = Sleeping Beauty pink band
Yellow = Winnie bands
Grey = Dumbo bands

Any other character anyone can thing of?

Depending on the yellow, Pluto?!

We are staying at BLT next week Aug 1-5. Any chance we can get bands even though we did not get an email? Is there someone to call?

I just happened to have checked MDE yesterday afternoon and saw the option for managing magic bands as well as the Fast Pass+ option was available to me.

The magic band page indicated that was our last day to customize the bands. Yesterday was July 23rd and we arrive at YC on August 23rd. The names were already selected based on the profile name so no change there. However, I was unable to change the band color through the MDE website. I called the help line and spoke to an IT CM who had a similar issue when she did her CM test. She said to go through the mobile app and I should be able to change colors there. Success! Blue for me, red for DW and green for DD. No offense to lovers of grey (the default band color), but I'm glad the color customization worked.

I pressed the IT CM on a few more questions and she said we would also get KTTW cards during his test. The idea is to have a backup for guests in case there is an issue with the Magic Bands/Fast Pass+. She told me I should be getting a letter 17 days out from our arrival date informing us of the Magic Bands/Fast Pass+ test.

I have played around with selecting FP+ and so far have made selections for the first four days of our trip. There are six steps.

1. Select day
2. Select members of your party for whom you are getting FP+
3. Select park
4. Select attractions. You can prioritze them here with #1 being the first FP+ time that day.
5. Select the option for FP+ you desire. There are four combinations of FP+ option labeled A, B, C and D. One of them comes up as "Best Match!" but you can select any of the four. From my limited use, it seems that one option places your FP+ choices in the first half of the day, one does the second half of the day and two spread the FP+ choices thoughout the day.
6. Make changes to FP+ selections. As noted elsewhere, you also get the opportunity to modify your FP+ attractions as well as times.

In step #4 you may also use the FastPicks option where the system picks three FP+ attractions for you. In HS, FastPicks offered me ToT, TSMM and ST over an almost eight hour period.

Other observations:
  • I was not able to pick FP+ more than once for each attractions. For example, I was not able to get two FP+ for TSMM on the same day
  • FP+ is aware of ADRs and gives you an overlap warning if you overlap a FP+ with an ADR. I can only verify ADRs made prior to selecting FP+. Not sure if this is true if you make ADRs after scheduling FP+
  • I was not able to schedule FP+ for times during Extra Magic Hours
  • On our MK day, I received a bonus FP+ for PoTC. I was able to change PoTC to Peter Pan with no problem
  • Closed attractions are grayed out and you cannot select them. A note as to why the atraction closed is provided. Jungle Cruise and MV3D are both closed for refurbishment during our stay
Sorry for the long post. I just wanted to get some info out there.

One last thing, I am positive I spoke to someone in IT rather than a regular customer service CM. She did not sound like she was reading from a script and, while she did say goodbye, she did not wish me "A magical day."

Waaaay off topic, but every time I see "BLT" I think sandwich and now I'm hungry!!:rotfl2:

Same problem here...I just got off with Disney IT and they told me since I have an AP voucher that I would not be able to link my tickets with My Disney Exp. and therefore could not customize the magic bands. If I wanted them they would give us the gray ones when we arrive at AKL. I would think this would discourage first time AP buyers from buying them if they don't fix that technological kink in the system.

The bands are separate from FP+ and don't require tickets. I was able to customize my bands before I linked any tickets.

Interesting. I'm still playing with ADRs for my short upcoming January trip. Yesterday when I logged on, I had a pop up telling me to link tickets so I would be sure to have customized Magic Bands in time for my upcoming trip. No way to customize magic bands (not even sure I want them--waiting to see) without linking tickets. How did you manage to do that? Website? App? Where?

Will not let customize bands at all either without linking tickets.

Bands are currently only available for those at one of the testing resorts in August. In our case, there are 2 RO ressies and we were able to customize bands for both rooms.

It's curiosity. I don't expect them to be delivered. The PP poster just said they were able to customize bands without linking tickets. My pop up, which was brand new yesterday, said to link tickets so I could customize bands in regards to my upcoming trip. I really wasn't paying attention to it because my trip is so far out, but it did peak my curiosity at the time. Either it was a hint to more testing, or roll out.

ETA: It told me I could customize as soon as I linked tickets.

I was able to customize my band this morning (changed the color and name) after linking my upcoming reservation (August trip at Pop Century) to My Disney Experience. I don't have any tickets with my room reservation, and I haven't linked my Annual Pass to My Disney Experience yet.

I haven't decided if I'm going to link my Annual Pass. My trip is less than three weeks away, but I'm spending at least part of a day at Universal, and I may drive over to Kennedy Space Center to see the new Space Shuttle exhibit. I don't even know which Disney parks I'm visiting this trip, let alone which days and what times.

I wonder if I can call back today and try and get the color/name on them since this is 9 days out. They said they are shipping them to the resort...but I don't know if they really are. 10 days out I couldn't customize on-line, but I linked my UT tickets yesterday (10 days out). I have no idea why but there does seem a lot of confusion about everything. I guess it will all work out, but the lack of consistent knowledge and confusion have me concerned about other bugs/issues we all might run into when we all get there.

We picked colors and my DD who wanted blue when we customized now wanted pink once they arrived :( I told her she could try to buy one of those band covers that I've seen photos of - sure hope they are available!

I was able to link my UT tickets on-line. The tech support guy told me to pick the older ticket option, and then select 'ticket with id'. then I added the 17-digit (i think) ticket and it came back with the correct ticket (ie. 10 day hopper with fun) so I know it got it right.

See, and when I asked, they told me it would be easier to link when at WDW - too many chances for errors with UCT tix, etc. Who knows...

Will not let customize bands at all either without linking tickets.

I was able to...
