Magic Bands info for the new test dates in August

So I just read through this entire thread and I am so confused! I was able to access MB & FP+ yesterday so I called Disney and the IT guy I spoke to said I would not be part of the testing because I am staying at AKL :confused3 He also said that if I am able to book FP+ times online (which I am) and then am not part of the testing when I get to the resort they will try and accommodate me somehow? :confused3:confused3 Then he said who knows you might get a email at the 17 day mark (tomorrow) and that is when you will know if you are part of the testing. Um I have never even been to WDW so for a first timer this is def mind boggling! :faint: I hope to use it though. Ive never tried the old system so it wont be hard to try the new one, I just want to be prepared! It even says to act quickly because my bands can will be "shipped at any moment"... uhhh. ok? lol

It looks like we're arriving at AKL a few days ahead of you, and we got the email two days ago. Perhaps you'll get one today or tomorrow. :goodvibes

I was having trouble linking my UT tickets to my reservation so that we can participate in the test.

I called the IT number in the email, and was told that they probably couldn't be linked and that's 'why I should buy from Disney" and that "Disney isn't out to take my money". She said that "this is what happens when you don't buy directly from Disney"

Thanks IT girl. I loved feeling like you were shaming me for trying to save a buck this year.

On the bright side, she was wrong and I linked them. Guess she's not quite the know-it-all after all. :)

I spoke to another IT person this morning who was wonderful and she made me excited about participating in the testing...so I'm taking the plunge.

OK, maybe I'm in a snarky mood, but I would have asked snotty IT girl: "If Disney wasn't in it for the money, why do they sell to authorized resellers And not just sell to the public at the same prices they sell to the resellers at then?"

Sent from my iPad using DISBoards

:rotfl2: I wish I thought to ask her that!

I just got my official email invite and I have a UPS delivery slated for today. I'm sure they're related.

I am also exactly 17 days out from my arrival, as many other posters are reporting for the day they received their email. I also have a UPS delivery coming today, overnight, that I am assuming is the hard-copy invite.

My guess is that anyone who is able to customize MB and FP+ on the MDE site and has a reservation at the known resorts will qualify, but you won't get your email until 17 days out.

That was what I was told as well.

I just spoke with a CM at the number on the bottom of my email. She confirmed we would be receiving MB as well as traditional KTTW cards. So unless they've blocked out our KTTW cards for the FP- stuff, we should be able to double dip. But I'm not counting on it. If it happens, great. If not, oh well.

Both the MB and KTTW will link to the same profile. It may matter if the FP kiosks have any concept of being "locked out" based on FP+ reservations...

Who will be the first to try and report back? :)

I was told this morning by IT that you can use FP+ on some days and FP- on other days, but not both on the same day. She said the "system" will know if you have FP+ booked for that day and not let you get FP- that day. She also said you can opt out by not getting MB and not responding to the email. You will then have RFID cards that can be used in the FP-machines. We have to opt out as IT cannot fix our MDE for all 12 people in our party!

This is leading me to believe that FP+ and FP- will in fact be linked at all levels for now, and likely using a common pool (although FP+ might be "capped", depending on the size of the tester base and the potential to "exhaust" FP at least during certain time slots - need to prevent "time jumping" while getting FPs for a group).

It will also take at least an existing unused FP+ reservation much like it would take a previous FP you've taken and were still within the exclusion time. It would be interesting to see what a kiosks prints, both before and after you've used your last FP+...

I'm so confused about this magic bands stuff. We will be there in. 16 days. We are Dvc members staying at akl kidani and will get passes when we get there. So no dme for us. Am I supposed to be doing something or calling someone? Pls help confused. Thanks

I think this was sarcasm directed at the fact that MDE was allowing EVERYONE staying at the test resorts during the test timeframe to book FP+. Doing something once is not Disney IT's problem, it's doing them consistently.

first off, sarcasm is againt disboard policy. so its impossible it was sarcasm.

it doest sound like an "IT problem". it sounds like all guests at these resorts actually are potential testers during this time period. they just havent received the email. some are saying they are receiving it 17 days out. so if you can fo fp+ on the website, you are part of the test.

So is EVERYONE at the four resorts a potential tester? Anybody have a guess as to how many people will actually be guinea pigs?

It wasn't sarcasm. It was an accurate statement of what has happened.

One of two things happened here:

1) Only some of the guests in those resorts were part of the test but the system was mistakenly live for everyone booked at those resorts.

or

2) The test does indeed include everyone but the CMs were woefully misinformed and incorrectly told some calling in that they were not eligible just based on their ability to book FP+ in the system, but instead were only eligible if they got the email.

I don't care if Disney IT was able to accomplish this in a prior test. I care about whether they are able to do what they set out to do consistently. Because when I send them thousands of dollars, I want to have faith they will deliver what they promise.

I think it's entirely possible that CMs told people they were "currently not part of a test," because technically they hadn't been sent an email yet, even if an email will definitely be forthcoming 17 days out.

I think they would have dialed this back immediately if they didn't intend for it to move forward. I'm sure there are far more guests today now realizing they can book FP+ and customize bands than there were 2 days ago.

Consistency... :)

And of course, e-mail is such a reliable notification medium, because nothing ever gets caught in spam filters, etc. :)

Heck, Disney seems to have problems getting snail mail to customers consistently...

Forgive me if this has been answered already. I am leaving in 3 weeks and just checked and was able to pick fastpass + attractions. Can I still use regular fastpasses for remaining attractions.

I've only picked for AK so far; we should be arriving at the Park by 2-3pm (early flight into Orlando Airport)

I have booked Safari - arriving bet. 3:05 - 4:05
Kali - 4:40 - 5:40
Everest - 6pm - 7pm

The good thing about it as someone who's arriving late, I am still able to pull FPs for the popular rides.

This may throw a wrench into my previous plans for AK for that day. Don't know if I'll be able to fit in everything else I want to do. Don't know if this FP + is a blessing or a curse at this point :)

i know, but you are posting in all these fp+ threads that "IT" cant enable fp+ for specific people without enabling it for everyone, which we know is wrong.

I'm curious what you have sent thousands of dollars for that disney has failed to deliver?
