Magic Bands info for the new test dates in August

I usually only use the app, but I wanted to see when people are going (in their siggy). Make sure if you go on Facebook to like Dis. They keep you up to date there too. ;)

Thanks, just happened to do that recently.

I still don't know if I'm part of the test or not. We are staying at the Contemporary from 8/25-8/30. I customized my bands and they arrived on July 29(on my birthday! great gift from Mickey!) I've made all our FP+ picks based on our park plans. I've been able to make picks for all 6 days. I also made a BOG lunch reservation.

Today is my 17 day mark. No email. No letter(mail already came today and the UPS truck also already went through my neighborhood this morning). I've already called 2x in July to see if we were part of the test since we were staying at CR and checking in during the testing period. First time I was told no and I would have gotten an email if I was part of the test. Second time a couple weeks later I was told if I was able order bands and pick Fp+ then I was part of the test.

So I guess we just wait and see what happens on Aug 25? if we're not part of the test, my kids are excited anyway about Mickey bands(that's what they call them...or as my 2 year says Gickey dan) and ask to look at them everyday.

Same boat as you. I check in Aug 25th too at Pop. Today is the day 17 for me. No email (past 2:20pm now) and no letter (mail came for the day). Already have my Magicband (DIS Green) Fastpass + times made and ready to go. BOG lunch reservation made too. See what happens at check in.

Glad to see I'm not the only one!

AFAIK, if youre able to toaccess the stuff online, you're in. I never got a letter or email, I'm at 7 days! All i got was an email from my agency owner saying i was part of it. I dont know if I got picked as a TA and thats why , or just as Guest like everyone else. :confused3

Has anyone tried to order a magic band that isn't staying at a Disney resort? My friends will be in Florida the same time we are, but they are staying off site. I thougt about sending her inthe info to order a band and try linking their tickets to FP+, but I wasn't sure if it would work.

There is no info you could share with someone else to allow them to order a band for the testing short of adding them to your room reservations.

If you added their tickets to your MDE account, I'd say there's a huge potential for problems. As far as I can see, they force you to tie each ticket to an individual in your reservation.

I just meant if they went to the mydisneyexperience website and tried to sign up. I didn't seem to need anything special beyond knowing the page to go to to sign up. That's what made me wonder if she could do it.

Right now you must have a resort reservation to the specific testing resorts for a specific time period in order to have access to Magicbands and FP+. There's no other way to get them.

You have to link your eligible room reservation to your MDE account.

In order to use MagicBands down the road, you must have a My Disney Experience (MDX) account and profile set up (at least as far as I know - not sure if they may allow for "anonymous" profiles for resort guests who just show up) - you absolutely need to have an MDX profile if you want to make FP+ selections ahead of time.

But having one does not GET you a MagicBand. Right now, only those selected for testing can get them (where being "selected" seems to mean having a resort reservation at the selected resorts during the test period). Eventually, all resort guests and AP holders will be able to get them, and at some point non-resort guests will as well, but they will have to pay for them.

Did your two year old get a band also????

We are annual pass holders staying 5 nights off-site followed by two nights on site at the Contemporary Oct 5-12. Wondering if we added a night at Pop onto the beginning of our trip if we would then get our magic bands before the trip and be able to use them and fp+ during the duration of our off-site stay? Would it make a difference if only DH and are are AP holders and not our two kids?

AFAIK the test so far is only for August.

I don't think that would work. It only gave me the option of scheduling FPs for the days that I had a resort reservation.

Arriving 8/25, AKL 6 nights, and received the UPS around noon and email at 2:10pm. Crazy how exact the timing seems to be for all of us.

Question about FP+: I understand that we may be able to also access regular FP in addition to the FP+ using our KTTW cards. I know this is not guaranteed, nor encouraged, but reality is I've never used less than 4 fastpasses by playing it smart. So I'm hopeful that we can use (not abuse) the system and pick up one or two regular fastpasses to keep us at the pace we're used to.

What I wonder is: with the paper FP there was a clear window of return but also a time stamp when you could get a new FP. With FP+ are you limited like with the time stamp? And if your FP+ times are late in the day, are you able to access regular FP in the morning before you use the FP+?

You'd need to add about 5 weeks more to the beginning of your stay. :)

We know NOTHING about implementation after the tests this month. What happens after that is a big unknown.

At some point they will supposedly make MagicBands available to non-resort guests for a fee - presumably for somewhat less than a one-night room. :) But when that will happen isn't certain - likely well after all the resorts are involved.

MagicBands aren't required for FP+. A ticket registered in your MDX profile will be, and an RFID admission card (either the existing ticket, or turn the ticket in for one). But similarly, it depends on when they open up FP+ for non-resort guests as well.

I am wondering about this as well. We are RD people so all of our FP+ choices (if we are able to make them when we go in Sept) will be afternoon/evening. I don't mind SB lines early on, but towards late morning/early afternoon I would rather not be stuck with SB lines. If it is the case where you can't pull additional ones until AFTER you have used FP+ this may change my game plan...

I wonder if any IT CM's are prowling here watching us all go crazy about these bands. I feel like my home page is dme I am on there so much.
