I ordered Magic Bands (we've never had them before) and they came linked to my MDE. It was easy to pair mine with my phone. My husband can't pair his. He says it says it is already connected to another person. Both show up in my account and only his shows up in his account. Eventually, I decided to see if it would pair with my phone and it did. Is it supposed to be like that? I feel like that would make him have to be near my phone or does it not matter? Can we go off in different directions and his still operate?

On another note, his account doesn't show DVC-Y. Is there a way to get his to show it? He's on all the contracts and on my account.

I am a little confused. If your husband has his own My Disney Experience, it should not show his MagicBands listed under his name on both his My Disney Experience account and your My Disney Experience account.

Once a guest is invited to share plans and has their own My Disney Experience account they manage their own MagicBands and cards.

You can still order the bands through the linked reservation, but he would see it once it shipped and linked, not you.

Did a DVC reservation accidentally duplicate your husband's legal name rather than matching to an existing linked profile and did you order MBs on that profile you manage with his name rather than the profile assigned to his own personal email?

As @gottalovepluto mentioned calling IT should help you resolve this. Based on what you're saying I believe there are two profiles with the same name (or slight variation between legal DVC deed name and preferred name). One linked to your husbands email which is his own My Disney Experience and one that is a profile you manage within your My Disney Experience. IT can merge the profiles together and get that sorted out.

As for the DVC-Y, your husband would need his own MyDisney account. When you became DVC members each deeded name should have received a club ID and an activation code. If he has these emails he needs to login to the DVC website under his same email address as his My Disney Experience account and add the membership. This should then add the DVC-Y affiliation across his MyDisney accounts (My Disney Experience, Disneyland, etc). If he doesn't have the club ID and activation code call Member Services with him and it can help you out.

In my MDE it says I manage his. I ordered them through DCL and it had me check off who each one was for. I'll have to check with him to see if his name is slightly different. He only recently downloaded all the apps (Disneyland, WDW and DCL). It's possible that something is off with the name, but it did show up in his WDW App automatically. At any rate, it sounds like an IT issue. Thank you both.

It’s my understanding that once a MB is connected to a MDE account it cannot be moved to another MDE account, even by Disney.

I'm super confused about what is going on with it. It says I manage it in my account and his account shows it like it's his. He said he wants to ask for help with it when we get to the resort vs. troubleshooting it now. We've never had magic Bands before and have no idea what it's supposed to look like or even what we're going to use them for.

My guess ( from mistakes I have made) You have him in your account , and he ended up with a seperate account for himself. So he has 2 accounts.

MS was able to fix this issue for me

So you mentioned you purchased them through a DCL reservation, not a Walt Disney World reservation, right?

Are you looking at both My Disney Experience apps or the DCL Navigator app when you say it shows them linked?

I've had nightmare My Disney Experience IT issues and I personally like handling them from home before arriving because it eats into your trip and can put you in a less than magical mood, but that's my personal preference.

MBs work as WDW resort key cards, park tickets, Lightning Lane redemptions, and room charging. MB+ adds some lighting effects and there are extra interactive things across property. They're not a necessity, but they can make things simpler because you don't have to pull a phone out or keycard. For example, an Apple Watch can be used as park entry and LL redemption in the parks, but it will not open your resort room or work to show you are a resort guest at your pool if it's gated or scanned by recreation cast members.

@PolyRob We are both looking at our MDE and not the DCL app. This is a screenshot of what I see in my MDE. Hopefully, we're just dealing with a case of 2 accounts for him. We're not going to parks this time so he's saying that he can just use key cards for getting around. I'll try to get it squared away before we fly out this weekend, but we're not always home at the same time.

Definitely a bad idea to wait until you get to the hotel to resolve this issue, in my opinion. You want help from Disney IT. You do not want help from the cast members at the front desk. In my experience, the cast members at the front desk respond to any Magic Band issue by telling you that you have too many Magic Bands which are active, and you need to inactivate some. If that doesn't work, they can't help you.

Did you ever go through the process to connect to his MDE account in the Family & Friends list? Check your Friends & Family list to make sure he's not listed twice. If he is only there once, you can step through the process to connect the profile you manage to his MDE account. Once you do that, his MagicBand will automatically move over to his MDE account for him to manage.

Hopefully this is the fix. I just stepped through your suggestion and sent him an email from my account. We have opposite schedules right now so I won't know the result until later today. He was listed once and it's highly likely that he never did anything before to connect.

EDIT: I think this was it. Since my husband accepted my invitation, his Magic Band has disappeared from my profile and it's still in his. We're currently charging the bands again and I'll update when everything is working as it should.
