So, as of late (any many on site trips, almost every resort) we have become a family who enjoys staying off site. While I fully admit it is not as *magical*, we love the extra space and the downtime that it affords. The fact that it ends up being cheaper is just an added benefit. But- MagicBands/FP+ has me rethinking things this time around. We the family that is there at rope drop so don't really miss EMH when we stay offsite. By doing that, we has never had an issue riding anything. Now I am nervous that we will be looking at 7pm ride times for the big rides. I would love some input to help me make my decision!

You don't need Magic Bands to use FP+. So just create a My Disney Experience account for your family (one account is enough) and link your tickets to it, so that you can schedule your FP+ (day by day, 30 days in advance of each day you have tickets for). I don't think you'll be looking at 7 PM ride times, although A&E and 7DMT can be hard to get at any time.

Expect to have fun!

We just came back from an offsite stay, did our fastpasses 30 days out, but changed many as our plans changed the day of or the day before. The ONLY ones we had issues getting at the time we wanted (generally middle of the day) were Toy story, had to do a later than we would have liked time (4 pm, I think), and we could not get either mine train or Anna and Elsa, but neither could many others (in line with us, standby, rope drop) who were staying on-site and got FPs at 60 days out. We also were able to do lunch at BOG, standby again, no big deal. So that required us to be rope droppers 2 of our 8 days at the parks. Not a big deal.
