Magic bands - December

Thanks for the suggestions. I was able to link my PAP voucher confirmation and customize my bands. It's amazing how calling MS they give you misinformation because I still haven't gotten invitations to participate. If I had waited I would have missed my window to customize my bands and get FP+ reservations. DISers always give better advice.

Some of us had already customized and received the magic bands and reserved fastpasses and then the invitations arrived.

Thanks so much i went to profile and got my AP's entered ...then it said in red letters something to the effect ...too many trying to register for FP and it would take some time....
I read i had till Nov 8 to set up my FP's...yikes thats close...

There shouldn't be a date to register for FP's - that can be done even on the day your in the park. Perhaps you mean the Magic Bands? You should be able to customize those even without attached media I believe as it will be your room key and charge "card".

The reason you only have 7 days to customize is that they normally process and ship them 30 days prior to check-in.

I wasn't going to bother with the bands. Then last monday, oct 21, I got an email saying I needed to do something by the next day in order to get my Magic Bands in time for my trip on Nov 1, 13. I went on the Disney site, linked everything and picked fastpasses and got my bands the next day - next day air delivery. So, they could have held them for checkin. We are not using magical express going and already have active pap's so no rush as far as I'm concerned.

I'm guessing they are so anxious for this program to be a success they will let you register right up to your last minute arriving.

Which makes me wonder if once they are completely automated if we will actually encounter humans to help us out in the future!

No, in the future no more CMs of any kind. There will be a small group of biologicals (humans) in a control center each controlling about 150 walking, talking animatrons. They will constantly be updating and personalizing our guest experience via the Magic Bands and their built in tracking function. Westworld was a prophecy. And we know how well that turned out.

I'm kidding, of course...or am I? (evil laugh)

I got my invite at 49 days. That same day it showed up on MDE. Not sure if it is because I paid the balance off before 45 days. We are there December 3-10 at POP. If it's takes you more then 7 days to decide. We knew what colors we wanted before they were available.

got the invitation today - they have moved the closing date for first of dec to Nov 20.

don't know why DVCers who were coming after I am - were able to use the system before me.

but think everything is fine now.

Not on the Dis as much because both of my computers are broken - so going to the library and senior center to use one.

Does anyone know how to tell when your FP+ window is? We are going Jan 2 and haven't got an invite (sounds like it is too soon). I was able to request the Magic Bands, but it tells me that I'm not within the window yet to make FP+ selections. I had heard it was now opened up through Jan 5th. From my experience last week, I'm getting worried that there won't be any FP left if I don't get them as soon as they are available, especially with the holiday crowds!

Are your park tickets linked into your My Disney Experience account? You need linked park tickets in order to select FP+ times. My AP was linked, and I was able to do FP+ long before I could customize the magic band.

Yes, they are linked in the system and I also confirmed this with a CM by phone. I am afraid the problem might be our check out date is Jan 8 which IS outside of the Jan 5 window, but I thought I should be able to make FP+ selections through Jan 5. I hope I'm not being penalized for staying longer
I think another hour or so on the phone will be in my future. The CM I spoke with last said FP+ was currently only through the end of the year, but I'm pretty sure I recall someone saying it was working through Jan 5 to accommodate the holiday crowds. Can anyone confirm this?

I'm assuming it's not working because you're outside the 60 day mark.

Ok just have to post this one. WE check into OKW on Dec.6, made all our reservations and linked them 2 months ago.Set up our MB's and FP+ early last week. So what did i just get? An email inviting us to try out the stiil new experimental MB and FP+.Go figure.

That is funny.... Maybe they are not going to be sending emails at all anymore, since Disney has a schedule of when each resort is getting Magic Bands, they'll just expect people to know they are included.

i have a dvc annual passes which expired in september i have the renewal exchange certificates. i am going december 27th which number do i enter in MDE to link the pass to my account for fast pass + the voucher number or the expired ticket number ? When i renewed my passes i was told the annual pass ticket number does not change Tommorrow is the 60 day window. I also have customized my magic bands

We did a trip a little over a week ago and weren't able to get Magic Bands or FP+ but perhaps because we were staying at OKW and it wasn't part of the test. We never got an invite. Thanks for your help!

Input the numbers on the back of the renewal passes, they are located underneath the bar code.
FYI - The system refused to accept my numbers.... It took a few calls to Tech support to get them entered. They had to do it for me.... and it took them two tries and 9 hours to get it right.

I have been wondering this myself.

Today is my 60 day mark for making FP+ reservations and I was able to make reservations for then entire stay, which is 5 days for me.

I read here, somewhere, that you can reserve only 7 days of FP+, someone else said it's 14 days.... so I'm not sure just what the window is.
