Magic bands at airport question

Our first trip using MB's is coming up and I was wondering about where to have them at the departing airport. I know you should not pack them in your checked luggage, and I'm assuming that scanning your carry on does not damage them. Do most of you keep them in your carry-on or just go ahead and wear them?

I've only had one trip with MB, but I carried mine in my purse until I was actually in the Orlando airport terminal getting close to the ME area (I think I was afraid it might "pop-off' somewhere and I'd lose it, although that was never a problem).

i've put them in my carry on and i've worn them.
either way doesn't matter.

I always put mine on right after it goes through the TSA scan at my departing airport.

I usually see others in the boarding area and on the plane with theirs on also-it kind of gets the Party started early and then at OIA,I'm all ready for the MDE "Mickey reader".

I carried mine in my carry on and put it on just after getting off the plane in Orlando.

I have put them in our carry on bag and then put them on once we got to the airport, and I have put mine in my purse and then put them on either on the plane or at the airport. What ever you want to do will be fine.

ie will I need to get our party of 12 including 6 kids bands out/on at the airport or do I just need them at checkin/get into our room?

You need either the band or the ME voucher for everyone in the party to board the bus.

You will need to scan your band at the airport when you first walk up to the ME area. It lets the CMs know you have a reservation with ME and also where you are staying so they can tell you which queue to get into.

Yep, forgot about the voucher....if you don't have your bands handy, your voucher will work just as well.

You don't need MagicBands at MCO. Some people don't use them even tho they're staying at a Disney resort. Others from out-of-country don't receive them until check-in. It would be helpful, if your MagicBands aren't handy, to have your ME voucher with you when you arrive at the ME desk. But even with nothing, the ME folks would find your reservation by asking you some questions. You won't be turned away from ME transportation.

We keep ours safe in our carry-on and put them on maybe 20 minutes before we land at MCO
