Magic Bands are live on DME!

I got my bands but two of them reverted back to gray. I wonder if they would send me new ones with the color I ordered. Something strange happened to switch it back to the default. It shows as gray now online. Anyone else have that issue?

I had kind of the same thing happen. We have 4 in out party. Picked out the colors and fixed the names on them. Said they shipped; then the next day two more showed up as needed to be customized. I fixed them and tweaked the names a bit so I know which ones are which. I will be interested in seeing what actually shows up. They are being mailed to my son's house in Orlando so I won't know till we actually get there.

It's still being tested, but if you are staying at AKL, CR, YC, or POP in August, and are eligible for the test, you'll be notified.

You can log in to the My Disney Experience section of the WDW website and see if it prompts you to customize your bands.

It's unknown when it will rollout for all guests.

This is probably a silly question but I can't find the MDE section. I am in Canada and I am wondering if only those in the states have MDE

Not a silly question at all! :)

The Canadian website is different then the American website. As far as I can tell there is no mention of MDE on the Canadian site. We use Tunnelbear to access the American system. I also have the MDE app on my IPad which has allowed me to login and customize magicbands and choose fastpass times for the August test.

Thank you for the info--I thought maybe I was doing something wrong

Hi....I spent a hour on the phone yesterday and set everything up. Spent more time after picking colours for MB and times for fastpasses. But now MDE says I have no magic bands? Anyone been through this? Thanks...

That happened to me in the app for a brief period of time between when I could still customize, and when they were 'locked in'... for a few hours the app was telling me I didn't have any bands (although they still showed up on the website).

Thanks for sharing all of your newly gained expertise with this system. Your replies have been awesome. There is going to be a learning curve with this system, but you have trouble shot most of the routine concerns.

Maybe we should compile a list of your tips in one place!

:thumbsup2

I also was able to Customize our Bands, but while talking to someone on the phone at Disney about our trip and the Bands, i was told we were mistakenly given access to the customization page and that testing is only out for the month of August and that no one has been officially invited for testing in September yet and that it is a problem in the system they are having. I was also told that people will be notified 10-14 days prior to check in about being picked for testing, So if you were able to order your bands and are arriving after August i would call Disney to Verify that you are part of the testing.

We are staying at AKV Jambo House from Oct. 5-7 and BLT Oct. 7-10. After I did the online check-in, I was able to do FP+ reservations. First only online, but not in the app, but after a few days it was also working in the app.

However, when I clicked the link for the Magic Bands, it just gave me a page with basic informations about the Magic Bands and saying "Coming Soon" at the bottom.

Then, about 2 days ago, when I was playing around a bit in the MDE app I was ask to confirm my shipping address and then could choose colors and names for our Magic Bands.

While it says in the FAQ that bands are not shipped outside the US, I was able to enter my address in Switzerland. Though there is also a info popup that says if the address is outside the US, the personalized bands would be available for pickup at the hotel when checking in.

What I found strange though is that in the FAQ it says that the customization deadline is 5 days before arrival, the deadline for me is shown to be exactly 1 month before arrival (Sept. 4, 2013), which makes me think that at one time they probably were planning on sending the bands to international visitors as well, extending the deadline for non-US addresses to allow enough time for shipping and when they decided against it, someone forgot to tell the IT guys... :-)

Another IT hiccup I noticed is a partially used Non-expiring park hopper which I have assigned to my account which shows an expiration date of Dec. 31, 2030.

They may just need an expiration date and it will probably keep updating up be well in the future. We don't want Y2K ;)

As I know Disney IT, 2030 is probably the latest possible date the system allows and they are just hoping they are using a new system by then... :-)

I live in the US and will be arriving Oct 19. My last day to change our MagicBands before they ship is Sept 18, so I don't believe that means yours will be shipped internationally. 30 days is the current standard during this testing stage. International guests are still getting their bands at the hotel from everything I've read.

Fine with me as long as they give me the customized colored versions I ordered and not those ugly gray things they probably just have so they can sell their cover bands :-)

Avoid those Bandits at all costs DH and I both lost half of ours during our stay, his just popped out whilst walking around Epcot never to be found again..I lost mine on Space Mountain and Indy Speedway of all things . I did notice that though we were losing them no one else could have seen any on the ground because they didn't land there goodness knows where they ended up! Oh I wouldn't be surprised if they got collected cleaned and sold on again by somebody somewhere. They need backs on them that are much more secure. Don't waste your money people!!
