magic bands and offsite

can guests staying offsite order magic bands on my disney experience or do we wait until we get to the park. not sure how this works as far as getting bands and having them activated. TIA

During thanksgiving we got them at the park. We did not pay for these. We got them with our tickets purchaded at TTC.

For this trip I preordered magic bands via Amazon because we each wanted something different. I purchased tickets from Undercover Tourist and linked them to our new bands via MDE

you can buy magic bands from the disney store website.
or you can buy them at practically every gift shop in disney world.

to link them you just put the code in your MDE account.

Didn't realize you could buy the magic bands from Amazon. A code comes in the box with the band?

Yes. The code is on the back of the band. Simply add it to your MDE. I got Cinderella. DH got Mickey and DD12 got limited edition Haunted Mansion.
All are on our account and ready to go.

Note: they are just the bands. Tickets purchased seperately.

Every store on property seems to have a section for magic bands. Special designs depend on the location, I think (like Haunted Mansion may only be available in MK). The ticket windows have them too, but I believe just plain colored ones.

AFAIK, you can't order off MDE unless you have a resort reservation or purchase an annual pass. But as PP said, Disney store online and other third party sites are an option for ordering them.

If you want the special ones, you could also just buy them in the parks. It's probably cheaper than getting them from a reseller online.

Apparently I'm the only one who would be concerned about buying them from eBay.

If the seller is dishonest and the Magic Band is already linked to someone's MDE account, how are you going to use it?

i just decided to not comment on the subject.
i gave the proper places to buy (the disney store website and any disney world gift shop).
if someone wants to buy from ebay and they get burned then thats on them because they should be more wise.

No, you're not. When I read this thread last night, I was thinking the same thing. If I wanted to purchase Magic Bands, I would only purchase them through Disney.

I purchased mine from amazon with no issues. Brand new and sealed.
I always use my prime account in case there are any issues with anything I order.

Amazon's a-z guarantee would cover anyone with problems but I just can't see why I'd bother. But then MBs are awful in my eyes and I don't know why adults clamor over rubber bracelets. Wear 'em if ya get 'em free but offsite? Nah. Just use the card.

I wish the Disney Store would sell other magic bands other than the generic ones. I looked at amazon and ebay to see what types of bands were available, not to purchase them, as I would be concerned the band had already been linked. I only posted the ebay link because a PP had said they had not seen the band with the castle band. Good grief.

I bothered because I wanted it. I have been on bed rest for 2 months so I figured get everything done via the internet. It didnt hassle me, hassle others and I have a band I love.

i was under impression that you had to use a magic band only. if i buy a pass through undercover tourist i can just have the card activated at guest relations and use that.

No need to go to Guest Services. The ticket will be ready to go when you receive it. All UT tickets are RFID enabled.
