Magic Bands 101

Do you know what the limit is? Is it based on your individual card/bank, or is it based on the resort? If resort, is it the same for all the resorts? Thanks!

I believe it's $500 at values, $1,000 at moderates and $1,500 at a deluxe.

That's correct. You can also set your own limit at the front desk to override the limit they give you, but I'm not sure if you are allowed to make it higher than the default limit.

I don't think it's daily? It's the max you can charge before they run the card.

Oh!!! Good to know! I thought there was a daily amount mentioned. No idea why I thought that, ha! Thanks for clearing it up!

I have read thru most of the 50 pages and found it very informative.

I am a veteran of many WDW vacations, but have not been there since Sept 2013 (and we were not in the MB testing back then)

My question has to do with the following fact pattern (which is mine of course). My family of 4 has collected all sorts of ticket media over the years. At this point I have a DVC AP (the other 3 of us don't have APs - yet). All four of us have 5 water park days left off a 10day no expire ticket. A couple of us have 1 day park hoppers left over from another 10day no expire ticket. Both my kids have unused and ugradable 1 day passes (that we got from the buy3 get 4 free promo years ago).

If FP+ and MDE didn't exist here is what I was planning to do for an upcoming trip in late August (we are staying at Bay Lake Tower)...

I would use my DVC AP (it expires on the last day we will be there... or if we stay one or two extra days I will use the unused day on the 10 day pass or a waterpark pass).
My kids would upgrade their one pass to a DVC AP upon arrival (that way I get the DVC and credit for the value of the unused pass)
For my wife I would buy a 4 day pass from work (I work for a firm that has a significant financial relationship w Disney and I can get 20% off passes) and these passes are fully upgradable. I would upgrade this pass to a DVC AP (with bridging I save the 20%).

My fear is that w the way FP+ is designed I won't be able to get FPs until the day I arrive for everyone but me (well technically I can make FPs, but the rest of my party can only make them for one or two days that they have passes for).

So my first question is... if I do make the one or two day FPs on the old passes, will they still be there when we enter the park using APs instead?

My second question is... If I decide to not bother making FP+ reservations in advance, will I still be able to get them for E-ticket attractions on the day or week of arrival?

My third question... I am fearful that when I put all these different tickets on the MDE for each person that entering the park may be a mess (in terms of knowing which pass is being used for that entrance). I have entered some (but not all) of these passes and I can't figure out how to tell the system which pass is the higher priority pass to use for that day (does someone know how to set the priority?). Also, while I keep meticulous notes on the paper/plastic passes as to how many days are left on each pass, is there a way to tell online how many days are left on each pass (when all my tickets are virtual... I need to know if MDE will do a good job keeping track).

I am considering buying three 4 day passes from work and save the 1 day upgrades for a later day... that way I can at least make 4 days of FP+ reservations in advance....

I hope this is all clear... if not, let me know...

Similar situation here. We have purchased a few rounds of 10 day PH/WP+/No Expiration tickets. Some have a few water park days, some have a few theme park days. When I loaded them all up to MDE, it just says "6 days remaining" but doesn't clarify whether those are park days or water park days. So I called yesterday and to my shock, the CM tells me that one set still has all 10 theme park days and 10 water park days. Like you, I'm pretty good about keeping up with which days are used and I KNOW none of them are fully loaded like that. But she double checked and even had the IT department check and that's what they are telling me. I will definitely stop by one of the ticket counters at WDW to verify this b/c it seems too good to be true.

Anyway, she also mentioned that if there is a certain order that you want the tickets to be used, you need to call them and let them know so that the programmers can do some kind of behind the scenes adjustments to make sure they burn those days correctly. For me, they are all "no expiration" so I figured I would just let it go and let MDE keep track for me.

OK I read through many pages and am still a bit confused...sorry :sad2:

Forgive me if this is common knowledge :confused3

Three people staying in a room under one account. Is every band able to open the room door, charge...things like that or can you modify the bands for exclusions? Also, FP can be made individually?

** Also, can you request a plastic RF card for admission/room entry instead of a MagicBand?

Thanks so much!

The magic band will open the door for everyone.
You can make individual requests for the credit card not to be linked to certain bands upon check in.
FP can be made individually.
As far as I know they are no longer issueing RF cards at all. I know we were not issued any last month at any of the 3 different Disney hotels we checked into.

I've seen guests over at Magic Kingdom yesterday (5/4) that had the RF cards.

Everything in the MB terms&conditions states clearly that the resorts will give you a card if you don't want the band.

I think that may be old info, and/or those that you're seeing people use are AP's that were issued 8-10 months ago prior to AP holders getting MB's. Not sure though. I've always liked the idea of the MB's so never asked for cards. I'll be getting my third set by our next trip in January. Come to think of it though, Disney would be stupid to refuse those who want cards instead

Anyone can opt for a card instead of a band. Simply go to Guest Services and they will give you one.

I have a question about using old magic bands for a new reservation. I just booked a new trip. Is this new reservation on our bands already or do I need to go into mde and link? Thanks in advance!

There is no information on the bands themselves, they just link to your account.

For a new trip you will get new MB (check MDE to customize) but any active band you have will link to the account.

So I will receive new magic bands regardless and then all of my magic bands that are active will work?

I have a few questions regarding the Magic Bands.

We've stayed at Beach Club last Oct/Nov during the test stage and upgraded DS and my tickets to APs knowing that we could use those bands later on our return trips.
We have AKL booked 8/15-8/21 room only reservation.
Yacht Club booked 8/21-8/28 pk (free dining offer) with 4 day Park Hopper.

1. How does Disney know which ticket to use on DS and my Magic Bands? We would obviously want to use our APs, not our 4 day PH.
2. Also, our FD starts 8/21 but decided to go early, 8/15. Could DH use his ticket early with Magic Bands?

Sorry if this has already been said, or mentioned, or answered, but you can have the magic bands have a different name, like a nickname, correct?
