Magic Bands 101

Hello, Sorry if this has been asked before, but I could not find a similar question via a search. Yesterday I made a room only reservation at the Beach Club (FIRST TIME STAYING THERE :yay:) After linking the reservation number to MDE, a message come up at the top of the reservation saying something to the effect of "Good news, you magicbands will be waiting for you upon check-in at your resort". Is this correct and if so, why are they not being mailed to us? Thanks! awdwnut

Do you live in the US?

Interesting...is your trip soon? The customize by date for shipping is usually 30 days before the trip, so I wonder if that has something to do with it? If you log into MDE and click on magic bands and cards, what does it say?

Our trip is in in mid August, so we are still over 180 days out. But, I think that I just figured it ou!! :) After going into the MB / cards section, I clicked on the shipping address and it had the address for the TA that we went through to book the room and this address was a PO box. After changing the address to ours, the message seems to have gone away. Also, the "customize" option appeared and it was not there before.

Thanks for your help!

I browsed this thread and I have a few questions.

I am staying offsite (April 2014) and have in hand RFID tickets which are linked to all guests in My Disney Experience.

1) Can I purchase MB and link them to the tickets?
2) Is Disney ever going to allow offsite guests to book FP+ in advance?

This visiting a kiosk when you arrive at the park to book you FP+ seems very inefficient for people who are serious planners. :confused3

Thanks!

1. Only onsite guests get MBs at the moment. At some point in the future, yes.

2. Most expect so. No one knows when.

Has anyone heard if they are going to allow more customization for the magic bands? I.E. different colors, designs, etc.???

Go to the Theme Park Community board and look at the thread "Has Anyone Decorated Their Magic Bands." Tons of cool ideas for easy personalization!

I hope so!!!! That's the good thing about our trip being in July...we still have a couple months for them to make changes, hopefully for the better!

I have a question for you guys and I apologize if it has already been answered already.

My DGS who is 18 months old will be traveling with us. I know that he does not require a ticket and would not need a magic band. I did, however, customize one with his name, because a band was showing on MDE for him. I was going to keep it and put it away for him. I just read, though, that a band would not be provided for a child under 3. Is that correct? They know his age on the reservation, but still show a band for him on MDE.

I know this is not an important question, but I would just really like to know.

Thanks in advance!!

Every report I've read is that if he's named on the reservation, he will get a MB. It just won't do much other than act as room key.

Thanks so much for the quick response. I know he doesn't need it and will obviously not use it, but it will be his first visit and I thought it would be a nice souvenir to put with his 1st visit button.

Disney "gets it". :)

Just a quick question, again without reading through all 44 pages. I am a UK DVC member and my family have a 7 day stay reserved at GFV starting May 30th (cannot wait!). We will all have DDP as well, but like most UK guests we will purchase our Disney Park tickets in the UK (we can get a really good value 14 day ticket for £259 (about $400). In the past, we have purchased our park tickets only a week or so before leaving the UK for our vacation. Am I right in thinking that to use FP+ we will need to link our Park tickets to our accounts? If so, I will have to purchase these tickets prior to the 60 day mark. If someone could clarify this for a slightly confused Brit I would be most grateful.

Yes, to reserve FP+ in advance, you will need to purchase your tickets and link them to MDE.

When we visited this past October, we had the magicbands loaded with our resort and park tickets. We are going back in May. Can I link the bands as soon as I have a room reservation, or are you required to have both the room and tickets booked first?

Thanks!

I have been searching but can't seem to come across the answer. DS11 loves Tower of Terror. DD10 rode once and will never again get on. If we book 4 FP+ reservations for ToT (myself, DH, DD and DS) for our HS day, can DS and DH use their reservation and then take my band and DDs band and use their FP+?

For anyone who has used Magic Bands so far, do names come up when you scan your band or is it more of a go/no go system where a light allows you access? In other words, would a cast member know or care that the name doesn't necessarily make sense for the person using it (i.e an obvious girl name for boys).

Yes the names show on the CMs screen.

During our last 2 trips, my DH used my band all the time since I don't do the thrill rides. He took one DD and rode, came out and got our other DD and my band and rode again. No problems.
