Magic Band worth it when staying offsite?

It was worth it for us. As others have said, so much easier than stopping and digging around for the cards whenever we needed it.

A trip a few years ago we didn't have them and it seemed like DS wished we did. I didn't get them because they seemed unnecessary and I didn't want to spend the extra money. For the trip we did last week (now DS is 21) I asked him if he wanted me to get some because he seemed to think they were really neat last time, but his answer was (no - not worth it) -- it's really easy just to keep track of the ticket card.

They look pretty cool, but DS and I both on two different occasions thought of them as being extra money not worth spending. And DS said that even when it was my money lol.

We always stay onsite so it's a non-issue. But prior to FP+ we would put our cards in lanyards around our neck. It worked quite well and without magic bands that is what I would use.

Off site the only advantage to the raid ticket is if you use memory maker. that way you don't have to stop to get the ride photos you get the seven dwarfs video and tot video

Well also small world and haunted mansion have interaction with your band basicly your name appears

If I stayed off site and had Magic Bands from a prior visit, could I use them if my tickets were linked to them?

You can. It's linked to your account. But remember they have a battery in them that should last 2-3 years. I had trouble doing something on the site and the phone agent mentioned that we were pushing it with our 2.75 yr old bands from previous trip. We ended up getting new ones anyway bc they shipped them before we cancelled our resort reservation.

The battery is only necessary for long range functions like ride photos, though. It's not needed for anything that you tap the magic band for like getting into your room, getting into the park and using FP.

I bought my sister and her family magic bands for Christmas this year. They will be offsite and I will be onsite. We decided on magic bands for a couple reasons. The kids will feel left out seeing me use mine. The main reason, though, is that my sister has 5 kids and it will be 1000% easier to have them wear the band than to keep track of their tickets. I remember last time we went without bands she had one less kid and it was a nightmare keeping their tickets straight especially at FP touch points.
