Magic band/ticket question

So we are planning a trip for OCtober of this year. We have a timeshare at Bonnet creek so we are just purchasing our own tickets through Undercover.
I have never purchased them that way before so I have a few questions.

With the new magic band--- will we get one if we purchase through undercover? And/or do we need it?
If we don't- how will that affect our fast pass + options?

I am SO Clueless on all of this and would appreciate any help!!!

Happy to be corrected on this if I am wrong...but...my understanding is that you only get a Magic Band automatically if you are staying on Disney property. However, you can buy one when you get there if you decide you want one to deal with life in the parks. As for FP+, you can still utilize the My Disney Experience app/website and reserve FP+ options as long as you have valid park admission. I would assume (but would confirm with Undercover) that the tickets you get in the mail in advance would have a number/code that would allow you to plug into MDE and get FP+ up to 30 days in advance of your trip. Would love to hear confirmation of this from someone who has gotten tickets from an outside broker like that, as we have several friends who are debating doing the same thing this summer.

EDIT: out of curiosity, just checked the Undercover Tourist website, and they say their tickets are RFID-enabled and WILL work for purposes of MDE and FP+ advance reservations.

Follow up question. . . How do paper tickets work with memory maker ? Would we still get alot of shots if we use Memory maker?

You only get the MB if staying on property. UT will send the paper tickets only. You can purchase a MB at the parks and shops and they can add your ticket to the bands if you wish. I think they were like $25 or around there.

I am not sure if it is required, but I believe Disney will give replace the paper ticket with a plastic one that can be used to scan at the kiosks for FP+ and as the entry key. They may still allow you to keep and use the plastic one, but I thought there was a thread on here that you had to get a card.

For Memory maker, you get a card to use if you do not have a MB similar to the cards used in the past. We did not use MM on our last trip as we did not get the value we expected on a prior trip. I will say that there were a lot more PP photographers around than in the past so maybe it's worth it again. Similar to your tickets, if you purchase a MB, they can put it onto the band.

The card does everything the band does, so that is not an issue. One big negative to staying off site is that you can only pick FP+ 30 days out. Its 60 if you are on-site. If you want to get the full value of MM, I would go ahead and buy a band or two. On most rides the band automatically picks up your picture. With only a card, you have to stand in line and have it scanned. This may not be worth the $20 a piece bands to you to not have to wait to "get" your ride photo, but it is most definitely not required.

No, it is connected to your ticket and information.

...and they sent me plastic RFID tickets. I took the number on the back and linked them to MDE and assigned them to a guest. I was able to select FP+ in advance. They work just like tickets bought from Disney once at the parks OR you can purchase a MagicBand at the park and they will link the ticket to the band.

The plain color bands are $12.95. Special Edition Bands are $19.95 and Limited Edition Bands run $24.95-29.95. MagicBands are forever linked to the person who first used it, no sharing.
