Magic band still active after trip is over?

We have a trip coming up soon. I went in to look at our account. Why are our magic bands still active/online from our last trip in September.

We are offsite for the first few nights. Do I book them online or do I book them at the park the day of???

Why are the bands still active after the trip. It seems like it would help Disney to turn them off when the trip is over.

They seem to remain active. Many people have APs or non-expiring tickets tied to them. You however can deactivate them -- there is an option to do that in MDE.

To clarify Can we use our magic bands while offsite since they were activated using my annual pass on a past trip? I just want to make sure I have this right.

Your band will allow you to make reservations via the app or web site, just as if you were on site.

Depending on how long you wait - keep in mind that even if the band isn't used, its battery will likely wear down in about three years. Even if it doesn't physically work, it will still be attached to your account, which will remain active for reservation purposes.

That's not really a problem though, since whatever ticket you have can still be used to enter a FP queue using a reservation made online. And the same ticket can be used in the park at kiosks if you want to make reservations/changes and you don't have access to the online service for whatever reason. (In my visit last week, the only thing I ever used my MB for was room charges and opening my door, since OKW was no longer distributing cards.)
