Magic Band Question

I know magic bands are tied to people and their subsequent MDE accounts, but are they also tied to the specific reservation from which you got them? For example, I have 2 bands from resort stays this year and an AP band. We are going again in May and getting more bands. So when we are there will ANY of my bands linked to me/My MDE work to open the door, scan in the parks, etc? Or only the band for this specific trip?

Yes, they will all work for everything, unless you have deactivated any old bands (a manual process you would have had to do yourself).

Bands do have a battery life of 2ish years which only impacts long-range RFID things like on-ride photos and similar. Age/battery life doesn’t impact other “tap” functions.

1. Nope. Tied to a person, not a stay
2. Yep, they'll work for everything*, any band registered to you will

*sometimes, on rare occasions the band won't work at the resort for room access. The resorts do have a separate database (may not be exact right explanation but it's close enough for this example) for opening the door. Each resort has it's own. Most of the time, it will populate the data with all bands belonging to a given registered guest. But you know MDE, sometimes one doesn't get loaded. If that happens, that band won't open the door. The CM at the desk can fix it up though. So I'll often stop by the desk and ask them to check whatever band I happened to bring along to be sure it will open the door. I'd say 1 out of 20 times they have to add the band.

Any active MagicBand linked to the same MDE profile as the resort reservation will work for room charging, room entry, etc.

We have several bands from different trips (all different colors) They still work. As mentioned, the battery will die after about 2 years, so it won't work for ride photos , but will get you into the park, charging, etc.

Aside from the aforementioned room entry issue, every single MB is just like every other MB assigned to you. And even then, the bands are the same, just the info used by the resort is "out of date" so to speak.
Think if every MB you have assigned as duplicate items, that functions just like a debit card you use to access your bank account.

if you have one you love but it is old and want to wear it for tapping, if you stick one in your bag that is newer the photos will pick it up. I keep backups and end up wtih many copies of photos!
