Magic Band Question

Sorry if this has been asked before. Under My Disney Experience it says our old bands are active I am assuming we do not need new ones and everything will be linked to the old ones? Thanks

Correct. Any Magic Bands that are active in your MDE account will give you access to any entitlements linked to your MDE account. Such as tickets, dining credits, resort room, memory maker, Fast Passes, etc.

I look at it this way, if I don't get a new magic band, which by the way you are paying for, how will I get to keep those special memories from that trip. I always get a different color and keep that band with the memories and assorted items collected from that trip. We have a lot of bands. Inside the band I always put my initials and the year to identify that band.

The only potential issue is that if the band is more than 1-2 years old, the battery may have died. If this is the case, the long range transmitter will not work. You can still use it at touch points but will be unable to automatically claim ride photos. MB is only way to claim photos on SDMT and FEA, and only way to claim video on TOT.

All previous Magic Bands get linked as long as the battery still works. Personally, I like to make sure to get a new Magic Band for each trip. First, as someone pointed out, I have already paid for it with my reservation. Second, I like to have them in each color so I can match them to my mood or outfit. Plus, when you get a whole bunch, you can link them together to make a fun garland for your Christmas tree.

what about custom bands from the store? we booked a trip for next June, and thought we would surprise the kiddos (2 young daughters) with a MB that had their favorite princesses on them for christmas. Anyone bought from the disney store online and then used several months later?

Someone here once said that when you are customizing your Magic Band, include the date instead of just your name. I'm trying that so it will be easy to tell which bands are the newest.

Someone here once said that when you are customizing your Magic Band, include the date instead of just your name. I'm trying that so it will be easy to tell which bands are the newest.

We just put Jo-Jo17, so we know the year, That's close enough.

We get new ones plus bring one from previous trip, just to have an extra.
