Magic Band question

Hi all! Quick question, I went and personalized our Magic Bands a couple weeks ago. Then, I saw even better Magic Bands (the ones with characters on them). If I order the ones with characters on them, do the regular colored ones still come? Or, do they only send the character ones? If they send both, do I need to take the Mickey thing out and place it in the character bands? Help!!!

You get the solid color ones free as part of your resort stay. You can purchase the character ones in WDW or at the Disney store online. You can use either or both. You do have the option to decline the solid color ones from the resort stay if you wish, but you can't replace them with character ones (not that I'm aware of). You can swap the 'pucks' from different bands, but you don't have to, both bands will come with pucks that will work.

Just so you know - the ones you customize and come for free because of your resort stay will come linked to your MDE account. If you order MBs online or purchase at WDW you will need to link those to your MDE account for them to work.

As the previous poster said - you can have both the free MBs and the ones you purchase on your MDE account and can use them interchangeably.

Just remember to deactivate any band you do not want to use this will prevent getting bands mixed up or even if it gets lost, somebody else using it.

Mixing up bands for the same person isn't an issue. I have numerous bands assigned to me and I can use whichever one strikes my fancy. They all work, as long as I don't grab one of my husbands.

I also had numerous bands assigned to me but it became an issue checking into WL one time. They said I had too many bands activated LOL! I have also grabbed DH's and couldn't figure out why he couldn't enter into the park. CMs are fantastic and we realized it was because I had grabbed one of his instead of mine! Decorating mine has eliminated that problem

You must have had a huge number of bands.

The only problems I've heard of, caused by too many bands, is when people have more than 15. There is no reason to deactivate if you only have 2 or 3.

Grabbing the wrong band, belonging to someone else, would be a problem.

I had 25 active bands! Didn't know there was a limit and have since deactivated all my extra bands (I've kept them because I have them all decorated to go with various outfits )

25 bands is a lot and might cause a problem but this is the go to answer from the CMs if someone has a problem with their MB. I usually have 12-15 bands on my account at one time and the only time I had an issue it was something of my own doing, but the CM on the phone made sure to tell me that I needed to deactivate all the old MBs on my account. Once the issue was corrected I had no problems using multiple MBs.

I'm not sure exactly what you are asking but yes, any extra MBs that are bought will need to be linked to the guest's My Disney Experience account.

Extra purchased bands do need to be added to you MDE account and assigned to the right person, but you can do that yourself at home on your phone, you don't need cast member to do it.

You can put up to 9 letters/numbers on the inside of the band.

If you lost it the only thing it could be used for would be fastpasses and to get into your room. But the person would have to know what room you're in and know your FP arrangements or be brave enough to make changes st a kiosk.

They can't get into the park and can't charge though.

That's more than I have but I've been told the number I have is too much, and I haven't had problems.

If they actually had a hard limit they wouldn't *allow* over that number to be active.
