Magic Band - Photos

We are leaving for Disney in three days. We are not pre-buying any photo packages, but we often purchase a photobook from Disney afterwards with some of our own photos and some of Disney's photos. On previous trips we received a card in the mail that the Disney photographers would scan for our pictures so we could retrieve them later. Do they now just scan the Magicband and if so do I need to set anything up in advance on my magic band? Also, can they do that for the ride photos so you can decide later?

They scan to band. You need to have a Disney Photopass account set up before or after photos are taken and should do it via your MDE account so it is attached to that account since photos will be attached to MDE account. Ride photos are scanned to band when taken as long as you are wearing the band when on the ride and thus you no longer need to go to photo counter after the ride.

Wisdom dictates that you copy the photo number that you see after the ride just in case. However, the one thing that was most noticeable when we were there is how non-existent the lines were at the photo desks.

In the past, they took your photo and then zapped your PP card with their device. Now, they take your photo and zap your magic band. Your photos can be viewed on your MDE account.

Will this work, save photos, for everyone in your party to one account?
That is will all 8 of our party have ride photos sent to the one account? Or must each member set up and account?

As long as all are in the same MDE account for the trip, and thus have MB's attached to that account, all will have photos sent to same account but you can have only one Photopass account attached to the MB account and thus one person (or someone else using his same Internet account) will be able to download photos. With that many in your group and as long as all are in one MDE account, you are a prime candidate for Memory Maker since it's one price would cover all the photos the group has taken at WDW.

I was just there last week and it is amazing but the ride photos really do automatically psynch up to your band. It is very cool.

We were there in September and some of the ride photos did not sync correctly. WE looked at our ride pics the first day we were there on my sons laptop and we ended up with other peoples pics in our account from some of the rides. After that evereytime we got off the ride we got the pic number gave it to the cast member then they had us swipe our MB.

We were also there last week (10/4-10/11) and yes, the photo pass photographers scanned our bands. And on rides with pictures, the photos did show up. It was really cool! We also got a couple of videos from being on rides, and there were a couple pictures that they changed the background of (just a couple). It was our first experience with photo pass and we loved it. Come to think of it, as I'm talking about it, our photos of "Enchanted Tales with Belle" didn't show up.
