Magic Band help?

Hoping this is in the right section... Well, we are currently booked at the CR with a room/ticket package for my parents and I. Now, the boyfriend is coming and he purchased a ticket only (completely seperate from us). How do we link him to our room? Will he get a magic band? Help please!

You will not be able to add him until you arrive. If you add him now he will be required to have the same ticket package that the rest of you do. If he needs Magical Express to get to the resort, then you are out of luck. He will need to find alternate transportation. As far as MagicBands, he may get one when he checks in. I'm not sure about that. Otherwise, you can purchase him one through the Disney Store online.

Now with fastpasses and planning with him. If he doesn't have one, he should make an MDE account and everyone with an mde account should link to each other. He will then appear to book for fastpasses and photopass photos. Since he's not on the room yet he will not be able to make fastpass reservations until 30 days.

The hotels now have all/most of the MB colors in stock.

Oh no. This really screws up our plans. Do you think Disney could fix this if we call? We really need him on the Magical Express.. How do other people do this? Im sure plenty of people go and a guest pays for themselves.

what did you actually book? It might help if we know what the package everyone else has and offer options on how to add him cost effectively for everyone..

Also when are you going? it might be cheaper to rebook on a new discount if it's this summer and get a better resort.

We used the Summer Kid-Size Package and are booked this June 1-5.

getting on the phone is probably the easiest way to do anything.

If it was me, I would also price what it would cost to change to the newer awaken summer promotion with the same features of what you already booked. That's an unheard of, disney has never done before summer discount and you might actually make your own vacation cheaper while adding him on.

fyi: I edited the post as you typed this. Also ask what it would cost if you changed your pacakge to the awaken summer promotion. You might be able to add him and get some money back from what you already booked. It's a really nice discount that disney has never done before with summer travel dates (that I think you fit)

they will scare you with a change fee but the discount might be large enough that even with the change fee it still comes out less than you spent and disney owes you money back.

The situation is different if the "added" person arrives after the rest of the party has check-in.
That person does not need to have the same kind of tickets as the rest of the party.
And DME is never a problem for a guest registered and headed to a stay at a WDW resort.

When booking a package everyone has to have the same package entitlements. If you add him after you check in the package rule no longer applies and he can be room only and get his ticket elsewhere or use an old ticket. He won't be able to use for DME for the inbound unless he is arriving after you but he would be able to use it going home as he will be on the reservation at that point. We have been given grey MB's when guests are added later.

I do have experience with this but our guests have always arrived a couple days after we do giving us enough time to book DME.

As pp's suggested price out other options/packages or room only options to see if something else works better - remember to include the extra adult charge for more than 2 adults unless your in a vila or suite. Remember that you can add to tickets after arrival so you could book the minimum for everyone and then add days to those who need/want more days.

Alternately he can book a ride with Mears at about 35 one way as that may work out cheaper than adding him to your package simply for the ride from the airport.

I believe you may be able to book FP for him if he appears in your friends and family even if he isn't on site

Good point I missed this in the OP - and this is correct! As long has his FP+ is the same as one or more of those listed on the room reservation you can make FP+ for him as well.

I do this with my family who live in FL as they often just come over for a day, since they are listed in my MDE I can make FP+ for them.

Thats good news on the fast pass.. transportation not so much. To emphasize why this is a problem: He is a first timer coming to Disney. We cant just part ways and go on the ME while he does another form of transportation. Im calling later in the day, in case anyone is curious i will let you know the outcome.

I don't think the DME info is correct.
Many times multiple guests in a party arrive on different days and use DME to get to their resort.
If the guest arriving later is scheduled to be in the room, AFAIK, that guest can board DME.
(It's not like they have to schedule a special bus to make the transport.)
