My lovely daughter has informed me she figured out how to deactivate the magic bands using the mme app. She also informed me (brother) better be nice. Now I know she's kidding (hopefully) but can you actually deactivate them on your phone?

Take away her phone :scared1: If you can deactivate on the website I would imagine you can do it from the phone app

I'm pretty sure you can do it and that's not even funny! I would be LIVID!

MagicBands can be deactivated and reactivated at any time for the same MDE account.

I'm more confused that you are your daughter's brother?

Yes you can deactivate any band assigned to you if you have the MDX phone app. Does she have access to her brother's MDX account? You can also reactivate them. You cannot, however, delete them from the account.

thanks for the replies. I'm confused by your last sentence. I just didn't want to name him

How about this instead "She also informed me that her brother better be nice." The other way leaves the impression that you are her brother.
I used that so I wouldn't name him. I meant she informed me that, his name, better be nice

It's that you wrote "She also informed me (brother) better be nice". That's what people are referring to. :) Makes total sense now, it just seems that maybe a word was missed in the original post. :)

So glad my son doesn't have a phone, LOL.

OK, so if I were the parent and paying for the phone I would kindly explain that should her brother's magic band become deactivated the very next item to suffer the same fate would be her cell phone.

this is exactly what was explained to her. Just a few clicks on my phone and her phone becomes a very expensive alarm clock

Ditto letting her know that there will be consequences for any actions. Up to you as a parent to follow through with enforcing them.

Sounds like you have this under control then! Don't worry, even if she deactivates, it's only a few clicks to re activate.

First of all, I don't understand what the big deal is with providing names... But why not just give him a fake name to be less confusing? Lol

Just call him "Frank" "Tom" "Joe" "Chuck" etc.
