Magic Band Confusion - Split Stay

I am so confused! I have a one-night stay at Pop before moving on to Coronado for the rest of our vacation. When I look on our Magic Band page, it wants me to have two sets of Magic Bands - one for Pop, one for Coronado. I really would have liked to have had just one set and thought that that was possible. Is it worth calling Disney and trying to just get one set? Or would you personally just go with the two sets to make it easier?

You can decline one of the magic bands. You don't have to call to do it. Just click on decline.

You can decline the second set when you choose to customize for the second stay.

You only need to use 1 set. Whichever you pick. 1 MB is just like the others

I know folks with MB already can decline them but I wasn't sure if it would let you decline them if the 2 resorts are your only stays. Good to know

We don't mind having the two sets. They work interchangeably and you can customize each set with different colors or funny nicknames. Also if one is lost there is a back up handy. If you really don't want to have two sets then you should be able to decline the second set right through your MDE.

I already posted that you can decline a set of magic bands, but that's not because I think you should. Choosing 2 different colors to wear is fun. I always get both sets of bands for a split stay.

Exactly.

Only decline them if you really don't want to have a back up set. I really couldn't see why you wouldn't want a back up set, but if you don't, go for it.

But know that you can use either band for both resorts, all of your tickets, fast passes and anything else. They are truly interchangeable. One isn't linked to one resort and one to another.

Thanks! I guess I'll just get both and use one set as a back-up. My DH lost a Magic Band at MK once. It would have been nice to have another one handy!

We also have one night as a separate reservation from the rest of our trip. I just went ahead and ordered the bands in different colors rather than declining them.

Not sure if you knew this, but you can remove the center and they are interchangeable. (You do need a small eyeglasses-type screwdriver to do so.) Like this:

@tzolkin , as well versed in magic bands as I am, I totally forgot to think about doing that. Duh.

This is our first trip with the new style of Magic Bands. DH & I were going to settle for colors that we didn't like so our kids could have dual colored ones that they wanted (swap bands between the 4 of us).

I was a bit annoyed that I had to book a separate reservation since Disney wouldn't let me add a day to our existing reservation, but then I realized that we could now each get two colors of our own choice so that was a bonus.

Due to my not being proactive enough to book my trip 2 week trip without split stays starting next week we ended up with multiple separate DVC reservations. I took advantage of the situation & now have a complete set of MB's in all colors including the ones from my AP, my trip last May & my trip last month. I plan to get one of the special magic keepers this trip. I was surprised but very pleased to see that they include a small screw driver with each magic keeper so no need to remember to bring one along just to swap out the different colors.
