Magic Band Colors - Why No Black?

Who says people with the black GPS watches don't have issues in the intense sun and heat? Maybe they're annoyed as heck. How would you or I know?

I live in Texas where it hits 100+ in the summer and the sun is brutal. I don't have any issues with my rather large black watch absorbing heat from the sun. Black t-shirts are an entirely different story though. The sun beating down is a problem across my shoulders and back in a black t-shirt. My arm hangs to the side with no direct sun on it most of the time. Probably why the watch doesn't bother me.

Well, some differing opinions about black bands. Good to know. As you recount your black t-shirt story, and I recount my black car interior story, we both can relate how black "in general" is a bummer in torrid temps. But maybe not for a small wristband. Maybe Disney wants to keep the colors fruity and cheerful. My grown DD's choice was the grey band.

My guess is because at Disney/in disney movies, black equals bad/evil.

Why no white then?

I doubt black was even a consideration. They probably started with the colors of the rainbow, changed purple to pink because, well little girls, and then threw in gray for those who might not like colorful bands.

My guess is that these are the free ones, the first round if you will and in the future you might be able to purchase additional colors or designs (black with jack skellington for October trips for example).

No reason to release the entire rainbow right away just because of a few of us have accumulated one of every color.

I think that the whole black=evil reason for them not being made isn't correct either if that were the case then they wouldn't have made limited edition Darth Vader ones...(he's pretty evil)

You needed oven mitts in your car :rotfl:

Also intrigued about the dye bleeding comment. The actual color part of the band is not against your skin though. It is in the (black, strangely enough) casing.

If they had purple it would have been my first choice. Black would have been second. I guess some black nail polish would do the trick though.

My understanding was that it wasn't so much that the purple dye got onto the skin, but that it was too easily transferred to clothing when rubbed/bumped against it - think along the lines of scuff marks. (Again, not sure this is true!)
