Magic band charging

If I do an online check in, do I have to go to the Disney resort and check in before I can start using charge privileges or can I go straight to the park and begin using the bands to charge?

In the past we have checked in first, but it's additional time in the morning we'd rather not waste if we could just drive straight to the park.

It depends when the resort processes your online check in folder. As a rule, assume your charging will not work until you stop at the front desk.
