Magic April 6, 2012

Hi all. I'm Jillian. Sorry for the being late to the party but I just found this thread. This cruise will be our first ever! :cheer2: So looking forward to it.

I have 2 sons one 13 and one going to be 15 right after the cruise. I would love for them to meet others that are in their age group. Also I'm looking to be apart of the FE if its not to late.

I'm on FB if you want to connect that way.

Can't wait for April 6th!

Hi Jillian & welcome. Please e-mail you stateroom info & names/gender/age of kids to Stimpy462@AOL.com, Kim has the master list for the FE's. I also have a son who turned 16 in Jan. So there is an array of ages for the kids to get to know. I'm sure they will have a wonderful time.

Love the idea of meeting while we are waiting. We have the 11:00 boarding time.

Thanks - I sent the email.

As a this is my first time on a cruise and tips and pointers? I have read a lot of the posts on this board and been planning this trip for a little over a year but I still feel over my head. Is there one thing on the Magic that we just have to do no matter what? or something that we should avoid at all costs?

Also how are the lines for the shows?

And what about formal night? what is ok and what is not? I have read the most on this but I'm still unsure. I have dress paints, shirts and ties for the boys but do they need jackets too? and I have a formal full length black skirt and a formal tank top that I have for holiday parties and such. I have a cotton jacket I could put with is but it looks a little weird as the jacket is a little dress down for the other stuff. Will that be ok or do I need to get a formal dress? I hate to spend a lot of money on clothes for this trip - I would rather save it for other things.

Thanks in advance.

Welcome Jillian! I got your email...I replied before coming here...I think you can ignore the part about sending your user name, I'm pretty sure I can figure out who you are now ;)

I don't know how others feel about formal night, but that sounds fine to me. We've been on several DCL cruises and it seems over the years it's been getting more relaxed. I know how tough it is to get boys that age dressed up!

I have a son 12 1/2. He'll be happy to hear someone his age will be around!

What boarding time does everyone have? Maybe we should start there to figure out a kids meet time? I actually forgot what time ours is! I think it was 11:30?? Guess I better check on that!!

Hey Jillian. Ok so this is my first cruise also. Trust me this forum & the WDW Moms Panel under (Disney cruise line) have been a great help to me. The #1 thing you MUST DO IS RELAX!! lol After that I don't know! He He. As for Formal Night, My guys are wearing shirts & ties only. Myself, I have a nice pair of Palazza pants and a dressy Tank top with a wrap to keep off the chill. Of course my daughter HAD to have a full length dress to wear(just as well she was asked to prom!) I actually found the wrap at Kohl's and was not expensive at all. I'm sure as soon as Stimpy gets to her e-mail she will send an update out on the forum and perhaps e-mail you back with the info. Hope this is helpful. I am still working on the kids meet for Embarkation Day!

Hello one & all. Told ya"ll I was new at this! lol So my crew has an 11:30-12:00 port time. Depending on when everyone boards the ship we could meet around 2pm. Still don't know where to meet as yet (hint hint Help). Could everyone send me their names & arrival times so that I can get a better idea. My email is: j.aumuller@hackensackschools.org or you can PM me if you are able. Thank you. Jenn:banana:

We have a board time at 12pm. I'm not totally sure how that works. We are coming in at the airport and will get on the Disney transport to the ship. Do we get to the airport by 12 or do we need to be there sooner to get to the ship by 12? I thought it said to get to the airport by 12 and then it will take another hr to check in and get to the boat. After that we wait to be called onto the ship - never could find out how long that will take- so 2 might not be enough time for us to join.

I need a vaca just for planning this vaca!

The first day is the craziest, stressful day! Lots of running around, trying to find where you're supposed to be, yelling at someone to catch up or stop fighting....oh wait maybe that's just my family ;) This will be our 6th DCL cruise (9th cruise) & it's still hectic!

After that it's smooth sailing :thumbsup2

OK everyone, hate to be a meanie but I think we have to close the FE exchange! I'll give everyone until tomorrow night Wednesday March 14 and that is it!! Absolute last call!

On Thursday morning, I will email/PM everyone the final list. If there are any changes to staterooms after that point....hey maybe someone will get hit by the lucky upgrade fairy!:wizard:...please let me know.

Jennifer

I'm in 6323. And our port time is 12:30 to 1:00.

Welcome to the new joiners! I am no help as it is our first cruise ever...lol! I'm planning on winging it!

Amber

Hi Everyone-

I am good for a meet up at the port if possible. While I have never cruised on DCL, I have been on RCCL many times. Day one is crazy.....and that is an understatement...so if we can meet in the port it might be easier or on day one of sailing maybe after breakfast?

I would LOVE that! Is there actually such a Fairy at DCL?

We've never been so lucky to get an upgrade but since we get a veranda, there isn't much higher to go except the suites....but we can dream!

OK, the FE list is officially closed! Everyone should have received the final list this morning in email or PM. If you didn't receive it, please let me know. I will send any corrections or changes when I get them. We have 8 families participating

Good Morning to Everyone! The Official Kids Meet will Be on Embarkation Day. We will meet at 2:15pm on the Starboard Side of Pinocchio's Pizza. Stimpy (Kim) and myself are working on a "Special Something" for the kids. Looking forward to seeing and meeting all of you on April 6th! A very short "20 days" from now. For those of you participating in the FE, have fun finishing them up. Safe travel to all!
Jenn:dance3:pirate::thumbsup2

Sounds good!

Is there anyway to know what movies will be playing?

Amber
Hi Amber. The personal Navigator on board the ship will have the listings of the movies that will be playing during the cruise. I do not think we have any other way to research that issue. Sorry. Looking forward to seeing you and you family at the meet!

Actually you can call DCL about a week before & they are able to give you the movies being played. Usually it's whatever Disney movies are currently in theaters (including the PG,Pg-13, etc) at least 1-2 of the Pirate movies, Little Mermaid & Nemo on the outdoor screen :)

Last cruise they had 2 premieres, one was Sorcerer's Apprentice in 3-d & I'm drawing a blank on the other but I think it was a animated one?

We havent had a chance to see the John Carter movie yet & I know ds is hoping to see that one on board! Plus we like it because it's free :lmao: Movies around here are up to $9 for kids!
