Back in port
We had breakfast in Lumieres. We said sad goodbyes to Rodger and Piroum. Piroum was leaving the ship, to return to Thailand for his two month vacation. We had our overnight bags with us, and left the ship soon after we finished eating. We were in the first 150 to leave the ship. Customs was a breeze. I'll never understand why they painted pretty murals down there, but you can't take pictures or buy postcards of them. It's a mystery to me. We quickly caught a shuttle to our rental car.
We had an uneventful drive to our hotel. We were spending the night at Amerisuites near Universal. The room wasnt ready, so we had lunch at a McDonalds Bistro. Their bathrooms were yucky! They served crème brulee cheesecake just like on the ship. Well, maybe not JUST like the ship. LOL! We didn't sample any of the fancy stuff. Just plain hamburgers.
Then we went on to the Beltz outlets. We hit the two Disney stores and also their tent sales. We got some good deals on shirts, a watch, a hat, a swimming suit, and scrapbooking stuff. Go there if you have the chance. Prices are much better than in the parks.
Then we went back to our room and checked in. DH got dinner reservations at WDW for us. We iced my foot for a little while and then headed for Downtown Disney. We hobbled around for an hour or two. I found the Mickey ear scissors that Id been wanting.
Then we headed to Animal Kingdom Lodge to eat at Jikos. We checked out the animals and listened to a storyteller. DH went to check in with the restaurant. As he was going down the flight of stairs, DD asked him something. He turned to talk to her and rolled down the last few stairs. He was okay. Just wounded his pride a little. (Now every member of our family had taken at least one fall this trip. Can you believe it?) He told them if they had an earlier slot to let us know. We waited several hours for our dinner. They paged us and when I hobbled down there, they said it was an error. It would be another 20 to 30 minutes. Try at least another hour! They didnt even take us at the time of our reservation. I personally think they forgot about us, because when my DH asked them again they couldnt find the card with our name on it anymore. Grrrr. We finally decided to have a cocktail so we could sit down. They never came and asked for our drink order. I was disappointed in their service, and Im not usually one to complain. But my foot was throbbing, so I wasnt a happy camper. The food was good, but I was actually just so glad that we were going back to our room soon that I would have eaten anything at that point.
After we ate, we returned to the hotel and fell into bed. It'd been a long day.
