Sorry, no 3 D here. Just kidding. Back to Day Two and Three. Very, very rough. For us, that meant very, very cool. We love boats (my husband is a captain), and the rougher the better. I felt bad that so many people were sick. Boats move people! I just wish my bed at home had that kind of movement (hey you, knock it off! I didn't mean that way!)
So Day Two and Three were fun at sea days. We got used to the ship, stopped losing each other, and really enjoyed the shows. It was neat seeing my husband, gruff sea captain that he is, get choked up at the shows. They are beautiful. Ronette and Deneval were lovely, and my kids fell in love with them both. We didn't see Denise, our room steward, too much as everyone around our room was sick. (Did I mention our room? 8526 was awesome!)
We ordered room service often, and the kids got a kick out of it. We did the wine package, and sitting on our veranduh drinking wine and eating cheese in our bathrobes (or towels - we pretended they were bathrobes!) was worth every penny.
Day Four - Tuesday, St. Maartin. Great day. Hated the poverty, felt terrible for the stray dogs everywhere. My daughter spent her allowance buying them hamburgers. My son spent half the day running blindly into the water and tripping to avoid uh, let's just say people who bared their afts. ;)

Makes you realize how lucky we are to have been born here. Somebody in the past had the guts to pick up and leave for the USA. We made several trips to Mexico and if your brave enough to go off the main streets its scary, we saw soldiers with machine guns walking the back streets. People living in hovels with dirt floors and the animals sharing the living space, but for the luck of the draw.

I know. My daughter just completed a beautifully written paper on what she's thankful for for school, and most of it was about seeing the islands. She made clear to note that they do not consider themselves to be living in poverty, in fact, our driver was so proud of his home. If only everyone could consider themselves lucky just to literally have a tin roof over their head! Still, our time there was really great. Everyone was friendly and warm, and St. John was one of the most beautiful places we'd ever been. Melissa
