The thread about purchasing magazine subscriptions got me to remembering the magazines we loved as children. Here are mine:

Humpty Dumpty-small sized digest made on cheap paper with stories, puzzles and cut-outs.

Jack and Jill-larger, with slick paper and a little more advanced than Humpty Dumpty.

Highlights for Children-always read in the doctor's and dentist's office while you waited nervously for your name to be called. Goofus and Gallant!

Comics-Archie, Tippy Teen, Dennis the Menace, Disney of course!

MAD-the first glimpse of adult parody, but safe for (savvy!) kids.

Tiger Beat, 16, etc.-Never missed a month during the Beatles/Monkees heyday. Dreamy photos to pin up all over your bedroom walls!! I had Paul on my ceiling so I could see him first thing in the morning!

Anyone have others?

I loved reading the back page of my brothers' Boy's Life Magazine.

American Girl was the magazine for Girl Scouts back then.

I loved the McCall's Magazine with the Betsy McCall paper dolls every month. My mom didn't buy it monthly, so it was a treat to get them.

Mickey Maus weekly in German, comes with free 'stuff' every week - I still buy it every so often

'Disneyland' from the UK - large pages with serialized Disney comics and serialized classic children's literature. Sadly no longer published

I had a subscription to Jack and Jill. I always read Highlights when I was at the doctor or dentist office.

I was hooked on Archie comics for years. From there, I progressed to 16 Magazine as well as MAD and Cracked.
