I'd like to give my daughter a magazine subscription for Christmas but don't know of one that is appropriate for her age (12). The ones I've seem are alittle to old. She loves magazines!

Thanks!

I loved YM when I was her age. Not sure if it's still around. Teen people would also be a good one. Also Cosmo girl, it's like Cosmo but geared toward younger girls.

My DD, also 12 really likes the American Girl Magazine, and is very disappointed because she just got her last issue.

How about Girls Life or Discovery Girls? I also like American Girl. I would suggest you check out an issue at a bookstore..see if it covers topics she's interested in.

NOT Girls life.... its like an American Girl 6 y.o magazine..lol. I reccomend Teen People, or J-14.

I think that Teen People has been discontinued. maybe Discovery Girl or American Girl

I liked Reader's Digest at that age. :)

My dd loves National Geographic Kids, AG, and for that trash reading those mags like Teen Beat (yes, instead of Donny Osmond, it's Drake Bell LOL!)

i'm 14 and I still read my American Girl. My last issure will come in about a month :(
Seventeen is a little mature for her. But the other ones sound okay. I'd go for American Girl. its always fun.

I'd say American Girl or Discovery Girls or even Nickelodean- my DD will be 13 soon and she still really likes them. She enjoys thumbing through 17 reading a little, but it's still a little old for her. She'll also look through the Teen Beat type mags as well. Just imo - CosmoGirl and Teen People are a little raunchy for that age, but I'm sure many would say it's fine - every girl is different! :)

Teen people isn't published anymore. Seventeen is to old for her age range. j-14 is more towards the tweens along with M.

My daughter, who is 12 just brought home a fundraiser from school recently. It was all magazines. There are magazines for just about any topic or hobby you want. She chose Horse & Rider. If your daughter has any paticular interests or hobbies try looking something up for those. National Geographic also has something geared towards kids....I just can't think of the name.

How about a science-oriented magazine like Kids Discover? They cover a new topic each month and it is very interesting reading.

I'm 13, and this is what I read:

Girls Life
National Geographic Kids
Cosmogirl (I don't really like it, though)
And Seventeen, but I do admit it seems a little mature.

We get Zoobooks for our daughter (the preschool version) they have an 8-12 version. Also I loved Highlights as a kid. And we love the Nick Magazine and Disney Magazine.

We just ordered dd10 ...National Geographics Kids and Discovery Girls... from her school Magazine drive. I think she'll enjoy them both! They are both suited for the 8-12 year old group.

 Man, I thumbed through a copy of Seventeen in the nail salon the other day as I waited for my nails to dry and I have to say I was appalled. The main article was about getting pregnant and going to the prom! Way too graphic in content, I felt a little embarrassed reading it and I'm by no means prudish

Brio from Focused on the Family is a good magazine for teenage young ladies.
