Made my reservations, is it ok to modify in the future?

I must have called the Disney Reservations line a bunch of times and am sure I mentioned this but not sure if I asked specifically
I just booked all my ADR's so set with that. BUT we may have a family member meeting us at Disney for 4 of our days there. MIGHT.... So as of now I booked her into our meals but if she doesn't end up coming can I modify the reservation to one less adult or does that mean I cancel the whole thing? She would definitely know before the 48 hour window. I sure hope there isn't an issue b/c I got up bright and early to get these reservations

I'm in the same boat as you Heather! We have two family members that currently hold ressies to travel with us. My gut feeling is that they won't go due to health problems for one of them, but I couldn't not include them in the adr's. But if they end up not going, I hope that there isn't a huge problem when 2 of the 6 aren't there. I think what I will have to do if that happens is keep checking the online system, to see if I can get a similar adr with the new smaller number of people. If not, I guess two people won't be showing up. I know they don't like that, but what else can you do?

Oh, you don't think you can call the reservation # and tell them there are two less adults?

I don't know. I think doing that actually "modifies" the reservation. I'm told they are picky about that. I know it's a huge issue to add, not 100% sure about decreasing...

I think I posted my response on the wrong thread. The CM I talked to said that she didn't think it would be a big deal to remove people from the adr.

Oh I think I saw your other thread. That you can go in that day and hopefully that won't be an issue?

I just got someone who said that it shouldn't be a problem. He is not sure how the tables are set up but they might modify the time a bit if it needs to be done.

I had no problem modifing 2 of my ADRs yesterday. I have a ressie for MM F! and Princess storybook breakfast for 4 and I was able to change them to 3

You can generally just show up with less people and it should not be a problem. They usually have to cancel your ADR and rebook you, so if you decide to try to modify your ADR, make sure they have you booked for something first.

Having eaten out for many years, it is common courtesy to call ahead and modify your reservations if you have one less person.

Say your party is 5 people. They will commonly seat you at a table for 6. If you end up only being 4 people, they can seat you at a table for 4 and keep the table for 6 for another party.

It does not change your entire reservation; it just helps the restaurant in planning to accommodate all of their guests comfortably.
