It was fun but geez, a lot more work than I thought it would be.

I made Lego people heads for my DS's 10th birthday party,

I think I'll be making these again soon for a baby shower my sister is hosting. I can't believe I have never heard of these before. I thought maybe I was being overly ambitious but i don't think they came out so bad.

These came out very cute!
I was making the cheesecakes ones today for work tomorrow and the darn things kept plopping off the sticks. I even used choc when sticking them in. Funny though... a margarita or two later I am hardly bothered by it. :rotfl:

Great job!

Oh cute!!! I'm making the chicks for Easter this year. LOVE the Mickey heads....

They turned out amazing!!!! I bet they're yummy too! I've tried to make them before, but I failed miserably. Maybe I'll make another attempt after seeing how cute yours turned out to be!

I found the true key was to add shortening to the candy melts. It makes it thin enough to cover and didn't change the taste. I did find the food color markers did not work so well on the chocolate which is why not all the heads had faces. I think I needed the broad tipped markers and not the fine ones.

Those turned out great! I'm impressed. I just made something similar for my son's Lego party except I used marshmallows an popped those on the stick. Also, I let the kids decorate their own pops which got me off the hook for drawing all those little faces.

I just made cake pops this weekend too! I did really easy ones and just covered them with sanding sugar while the candy melts were still wet. I did 150 of them and it took forever. I love the ones that you did. I might try to do those when I don't have to make so many.

Those are cool. Where are instructions or a recipe?

I am amazed you can take homemade food to a party at your school. Our local schools don't allow it at all as they want to see all the ingredients listed due to allergies.

Of course, this makes it much easier on the parents!

Great job! I made cupcake bites today. Basically you use the same recipe for the pops but then place them in a chocolate candy mold. Dip in melted colored chocolate and decorate. I did have the patience for the pops today. Tomorrow I am making cookie lollipops. Wish me luck on that one.

Did you use a small m&m to make the top of the head? I want to try those too!

See you use food pen as well! Those things don't write well! I gave up and used chocolate food coloring and a toothpick. or the end of a lollipop stick! LOL

My husband cakes was a candy cake! Basically a huge cake bite!! Everyone loved it! Said it was the best way to eat a cake!

Ok, I am dumb, but how do you make cake pops? TIA

I found this book in Target called Cake Pops, I had never heard of them before.

This is the website ... And here is the YouTube video that shows you how to make the basic ones......

I posted the link to the recipe above and the website.

Our school relies on parent baking goods and bringing them in. We sell homemade stuff for everything and for all school events. We even have a teacher appreciation day where the parents make breakfast and lunch items and bring them in to school for the teachers to feast on all day, leftovers usually last another day or two.

Yes, I used and M&M, Next time I need to use yellow or maybe a yellow Sweet Tart but I didn't want something too hard for the kids biting into them.

Good luck !

Awesome! Love making cake pops! Mr Potato head is a fun one to make!

I saw those and really want to try them someday.

I've been making them since Christmas, although I only do basic ones, not shapes. Two tips I've been using:

- For regular cake pops (not cheesecake, not sure if this would work on that), I make the balls, put the sticks in, and then put them all into the freezer for a few hours. They stay on the sticks better, and I think because they're cold the chocolate cools quicker.

- Also, to thin the chocolate I add a little canola oil.

Pyrxtc, those pops you made are sooooo adorable!! I want to try making some shaped ones, now!!!

I tried freezing them but the chocolate on the frozen ones all cracked once dried.

I figured why start out with round when I can start of complicated... LOL !! I probably should have started off doing easier ones but I guess it worked out. The next bunch I'm making are round and decorate after. I lost a couple of ears in the chocolate at first.
