I made the huge mistake of clicking on the, "Need special accommodations for Guests with disabilities?" on Tuesday and filling out the form. After doing so - My impatience drove me to call Disney and find out that the Platinum plan wouldn't work for our family needs after all (much to our dismay). Now we'll jump through more hoops lining up in room child care, making special event arrangements, etc - but it will still be a great disney vacation for our family. But here is where the nightmare is beginning.

Wednesday I went in to the hospital, and got out tonight. I began checking my email a while ago and found two reservation notices from Disney. Now keep in mind, our reservations are already finalized - I went ahead and made them through our AAA Agent with 7d/6n at AKL Club Level w/Deluxe Dining and extra gate tickets for my son that wont' be on the meal plan. So I thought that Disney must have mixed something up and sent me the guarantees vs AAA. Nope - there's the AAA guarantees -so what is this? I open up the Disney emails, and they have booked me in the Platinum packages anyway - even after I personally spoke with Customer Service and we discussed how these packages would not work for our family. Not only that - they included the non-refundable insurance on them. What the heck? Now what am I supposed to do?

Shady business Disney has going there. I request infomration - and they lock me in with a non-refunable insurance charge despite the conversation. Yeah - I'm bitter right now. It's bad enough that they weren't willing to work with us on the pricing of the platinum plan with a special needs child that wasn't able to take advantage of much more than in room care, one tour and a couple parades. Now this.

I think this should be simple to fix and nothing to be bitter about.:)

Looking at the online form for Special Needs requests:
After filling in your info, there is a question:

Would you like Vacation Insurance to be included in your vacation package?

Yes .
. No ..

Did you click no?

As far as "booking" it have they charged you anything? I am guessing they did a "courtesy hold" in order for you to be able to have your needs met. So you have not been charged anything. You can call and cancel this "request".

Nothing "shady" about it.

I would like to ask though, how did you book the son that will not be on the dining package? I always thought everyone in the room had to be on the same dining package.

I do hope you have a great vacation.

It was an inquiry, not a regular booking. They were supposed to contact us to go over the details. And no, not everyone has to be on the meal plan, but this was a platinum request so we were inquiring on how or if we could handle that separately (after sending the email request, we ended up calling and verifying the info anyway - excluding platinum as an option for us). We booked last year with deluxe dining, and were able to exclude our son, and we ultimately did the same thing this year (who eats exclusively by a feeding bag). They sent the communication first to discuss our special needs request, and when I didn't respond - 30min later just booked it.

Update: I canceled it, but it required an argument and involving a supervisor to do so. The supervisor did apologize, but I was already in tears at that point, having had to explain three time over the special needs of my child that prevented him from participating at full capacity in the plan as if I was trying to cheat the system.

Sorry to hear about the problems you had.

Normally they lock in prices all the time to try and "sell" you on the trip and to help you out by holding the room and all you have to do is either ignore it and they will cancel it or give them a call. We have had this several times. We once called and priced about 5 different travel options ( different resorts, dates, ect.) and then a few days later we got a 5 invoices asking for payment on them. We were in panic mode, but they told us that's just how it's set up and it's no big deal to cancel. I'm sorry that you had such a hard time. I don't understand how they could lock you in and have you booked with out you finishing the purchase. Either way I;m very happy that you got it taken care of.

If they don't hold something for you, then you run the risk of your desired location being sold out when you call back. A courtesy hold is always a good thing- it locks in rates/availability while you take some time to make a final decision. There is never any obligation to follow through and the ressies auto-cancel without your needing to make a return call.---Kathy
