I don't know what the ratio is but it makes a dime look big!!

wow!
great article, just what i wanted to know and i'll be sending off for my coupler...still going to play around with my crummy macro filter lenses and wonder if i put an extension tube on the lens then the second lens what would happen..maybe found a use for my stinking manual focus extension tubes after all?

gee thanks, now I've added that coupler to my B&H wishlist...lol

that's quite a setup, and I can't wait to try it out! :thumbsup2

so that is the 105/50 combo? what did you use for lighting, i really like the way it almost looks backlit/transparent

Nice lime, tinks dad!
Here's one from last summer, a eastern pondhawk enjoying a beatle.

These little guys eat fast, he ate half of the beatle while I switched from my 300mm lens to my 100mm macro lens.

Just the 105mm and a +5 diopter. The two coupled lens was looking at a single lime cell. Cool, but foreign since there was no context.
It was lit from behind with a remote fired flash at 1/8 power, and snooted down to about a quarter size opening with a cone of magazine cover to concentrate the flash and prevent spill. I then used another flash hand held slightly above and to camera left to give the edge of the lime some color.

Here's another; the lowly dandelion. For a weed, these are pretty up close.

Did you notice the beetle leg, caught on the pondhawks front leg?

Canon lists it as 1:1. I'm about to get some extension tubes, i cant wait to see what I can do with them:)

Found a program Helicon Focus that stitches together or stacks a series of shots with different areas in focus and outputs them into one file. Even offers some rudementary editing features as well. I thought I'd put it to the test on a single dandelion seed.

What do you think? Not bad, a little distortion on the front branches of the seed. This was taken from 8 seperate shots.

I've heard of this process before, pretty cool!

how can i figure out what a 1:1 or 1:2 or 1:4 macro would be with a 1.4 teleconverter..i keep getting 7:1 and uh i know that is wrong:)

canon or 3rd party macro lens...how far is the focusing distance...i really love using my 70-200 as a close up lens due to the fact it is able to focus from so far away( 4 ft) whereas my present macro lens is only about 12-18" so i was wondering what the focusing distance is on other macro lenses with canon mounts
thanks

An interesting "weed" blossom opens up in the morning and closes mid-afternoon. Waiting for the bees!
