Maclaren Volo

Does anyone have a Maclaren Volo? The seats look a bit uncomfortable? Has anyone had problems with it?

I see your little one is 2, my ds is 3 and I bought my silver 2006 volo end of january at the Target store closest to Disney after seeing all of these maclarens around the parks.

Paid $99 plus tax and I love it. The same night I bought it, my dd8 (about 80lbs) sat in the volo as we strolled around the boardwalk. Pushed so easily, I was thrilled with the purchase.

The carry strap is excellent and the stroller weighs virtually nothing and actually feels like a full-size stroller in terms of storage. The basket looks small, but with the right kind of bag, you can fit small cooler at base, coats, jackets, and diaper bag if needed.

The seat is comfortable; haven't had a complaint from ds3 yet.

I've got positive comments about the volo. I think it's totally worth the money.

For a 2 year old, I think the seating is fine. A 6-month-old I would probaby recommend the padded seating you can purchase separately.

And the weight limit is 55lbs, but it's actually more based on my own experience. You won't regret buying the stroller. And maclarens have high resale values as well.

The seat is sort-of a "sling" style. That's the best way I can describe it. It's attached to the frame at 4 points and then it isn't reinforced anywhere else but DS doesn't complain at all. In fact, he seems to like it. I would think that kids stay cooler in it because it is mesh as opposed to super cushioned/lots of fabric. Plus, you can snap it out and wash it if it gets dirty. I LOVE my Volo! I was nervous about spending that much on a stroller but it was worth every penny.

I bought a Volo just for our Disney trip last year when DD was barely 4. We all loved it. I wish I'd had one for my boys. The seat is actually cooler than on a standard type of stroller, and DD never complained. Though she'll be 5 by the time we go again in July, we're bringing it again.

We also just bought one from Target and so far it has worked out great! My DD likes being in there. I thought it was great for an August trip to Disney because it is more mesh-like in the seat area than just traditional padding. I hope I'm explaining it right. I don't think my DD will get as hot and sweaty in this than she would in her regular stroller. We really like ours!

I bought the gray mesh one from Target last December. It has been an awesome stroller. So easy to clean! Right now, DD is going through an "I'm too big for the stroller" phase , but I think she'll fall back in love with it as soon as she sees all of the other kids in THEIR strollers, AND when she gets tired of walking. I can remember asking my parents at age 8 to sit in a stroller at WDW b/c MY feet were so tired.; so surely she'll want to sit in hers.

The Volo is great! (Two thumbs up!!!)

I had the same thoughts when I saw a picture of it. It didnt look comfortable. It was getting rave reviews on these boards, though, so I ordered it and what a great decision it was. My DD loved it and it is very comfortable for her. She only uses it at Disney as she is older. YOu wont regret buying one. They are terrific.

I bought one to use at WDW when my DS was 2 1/2. I don't know if he thought it was uncomfortable, or he just wanted to walk but it was like pulling teeth to get him to sit in it. When we went the stroller became more of a baggage tote than a stroller for DS. He walked almost the whole time.

He's now 3 and prefers our regular stroller over the Volo. He says it's not comfortable-so I guess for him it's not. He'll gladly sit in our full size, padded stroller-but I have to bribe him to sit in the Volo.

But I don't regret buying it. The little we did use it for DS it was great. It's a nice stroller and easy to push and steer with even 1 hand.

I took my almost 3 year old DS to Babies R Us to try the Volo and the Triumph. He's autistic, so he doesn't communicate things like "comfort" too well to me. I make my decisions by giving him two choices and asking him "which one?"

He tried the Triumph first, seemed to love it, sat back, I reclined it, etc.

I got him out and put him in the Volo. He never really "settled into" it. I pushed him around for a few minutes, but he was perched forward the whole time.

I got him out and then said "which one do you want to sit in again". He went for the Triumph. I pointed to the Volo and said "do you like this one?" and he said "No" and shook his head, then I tried again, and he started to get whiny and kept saying "no no no" (this is how I make sure he really doesn't like something, and he's not just saying "no" to say it). He grabbed my hand and put it behind his knee, and made a "I'm about to cry" face. This is his way of letting me know that something is hurting him or rubbing him the wrong way. I realized that the edge of the seat on the Volo is pretty rough and scratchy. He is a short kid, with a long torso but short legs. The edge of the Volo really dug into the backs of his knees and he didn't like that. The trimph seat is padded and soft fabric. It's a LOT nicer than the Volo, in my opinion, and the price difference is not very much, considering how much more the Triumph does than the Volo, it's an easy decision.

I would say let your child decide. If he/she is comfortable in the Volo, go for it, but I personally found the Triumph folds up more compactly. The volo has a weird wide hood that doesn't collapse well.

That's exactly where my DS said it hurt him. Maybe it's better for older kids, but not smaller kids (DS was 2 1/2 at the time).

I went for the Quest because it reclines and seemed more comfortable, but my little one is still little (5 months). Check out ebay and 2006 model sales. I got my Quest for $90.

Nope. There are plenty of them there and tons more strollers that are much more expensive. We have never had a stroller taken in our 15 years of taking them. They do get moved by the CM's, but are always nearby.

We just bought the Volo for our daughter, age 4 with autism, because she has outgrown her Citilite which we bought for WDW in 2004. We let her sit in the floor model first to make sure it was comfortable for her and she didn't want to get out of it!! We did get the $129 upgrade that has a padded seat. We hope it last her until our 2008 trip to WDW just after she turns 5.

We LOVE our volo too!! My son was almost 4 when we got it and we use it all the time. It steers fantastically, storage is super, the mesh was cool in the summer for him, it provided great shade, and it was light and compact to carry. I would recommend tying something on your handles at the parks b/c we saw many volos and if it weren't for the bright red scarf I had tied to it, I would have had to take a double look to figure out which one was mine!

I just bought a VOLO and Hannah and I both love it

Although I can't say that I love the organizer It doesn't fasten to the bars of the stroller (like it seems in the pictures I've seen) at the bottom and just hangs there. I haven't used it yet though. So we shall see

I will be marking ours with a sharpie in a couple of "hidden" places to make sure we get the right one

We used our two Volos at the parks a couple of weeks ago. My kids (2, 4 & 6) all seemed to enjoy riding in them.


I liked them because they are light weight, easy to carry, and have a cover over the top. It is also nice that they are sturdy enough my "big" kids won't outgrow them anytime soon. (I hope)

I just ordered a Volo for our upcoming trip - we "test drove" one a couple of weeks ago, and DD2 enjoyed riding in it.

Question, though - Do any of you have a rain cover for your Volo, and if so, was it a good thing to have at WDW? I wondered whether it would be worth having, since the material looks like it would dry out quickly.

We have one and have had no problems with it. My daughter was 18 months when she first used it on a 3 day trip we took. No problems at all.
