Maclaren Triumph...convince me

Okay back from Babies R Us. They didn't have the Volo. The Quest was definitely comfier than the Triumph. The only thing I didn't like was how dd's knees came up pretty high. No stretching out the legs. That got me thinking about the rentals. Can she stretch out her legs in a rental?

Lastly, if there is anyone with a Volo, can you measure how deep the seat is? And anyone with a Quest, can you measure how deep the seat is? I forgot to measure it while I was there. The Maclaren site doesn't have seat depth measurements.

Thanks again

I bought the triumph for my then 4 year old. I have had it for about 6 months. I especialy bought it for our Disney trip. We have used it often and she loves it! The first time we used it she was so comfortable in it she fell asleep. All who know my DD know this never happens (When she was about a year old I asked my pediatrition if something was wrong w/her because she only slept for about 8hrs. After a thorough check up she stated "Some kids don't need that much sleep.)

I use it often when we go on day trips and it is a breeze to push; she recently shot up 2 inches and 6 pounds.. I didn't get the Volo because I wanted a recliner and a hood for the Fl sun. Please don't bash me I know she's 5 now but I use it mostly for safety reasons. I go out often and know she will not get lost in the stroller, and it's less stressful then hearing Mommy I'm tired. She sits in it while she plays her leapster.

I'm telling you get the triumph you'll be happy w/it.

Oh by the way I've had alot of better strollers such as, Peg Prego and Combi etc. This has been the best stroller to push!

Hope this helps.

We were at babies-r-us and tried the Quest & Triumph. Ended up with the Triumph based on cost. Plus it already had the shoulder strap and I didn't want to pay for the Quest and have to buy a strap to boot.

Went to the mall and put our 6 month old in it and he fell asleep. I was pleased with it. The adjustable recline strap doesn't bother me. We just unbuckled it.

Oh my God. That's my daughter. You just sold me the Triumph. Not to mention we originally set a budget of $100 for this and with the strap the Quest pushes us to $150.

I'm sold.

WendymichaelJohn, I'm glad I could help! Just wanted to let you know there a coupon in toysrus if youspend more then $75. you get $10. off.

Also 2 wks ago w/ took a weekend trip to St.Augastine the stroller got wet and my really smart DH :confused3 put a magazine on the seat of the Maclaren; needless to say my stroller has ink mark all over it. I thought it was ruined. :sad2: A couple a days ago I remembered so I cleaned it w/ spray and wash (thinking how can I forget such a traumatic experience, and the stain will never come off!),well it came right off I did'nt even need to scrub! :cool1: .

Got love the stroller. :lovestruc

Also the stroller does come w/rain gear.

Let me know what you think after you use it. :wave2:

I love buying at www.albeebaby.com as they are cheaper then Babies R Us and free shipping.

At Babies R Us the Quest was $199. and at the website it was $129. Of course, I bought it at the website!

Okay, you're not going to believe this, but I was up late last night thinking about this. (I'm an obsessive over-thinker when it comes to shopping!)

I have decided to go with not one, but TWO Maclaren strollers, lol! I just kept thinking about getting one for dd and bringing our Graco Citilite for ds. While I like having a decent sized basket underneath, I don't like the 3pt harness. DS is a complete Houdini and I'd be nervous looking away for even a split second. Soooo....

I'm getting the Triumph for dd and either the Triumph or Quest for ds. I'll ebay one of the strollers when we get back, and I'll sell my other two strollers at Once Upon a Child once the strollers arrive. I told DH my plan and he appeared to acquiesce for being weary of the subject, lol. When I told him I was worried about not having room for our stuff he said, "Well, then don't bring any stuff. It's WDW, not camping. We can always rent a locker if we get bogged down by" I'm going to get a really good waist pack from REI that will fit a diaper or two. I got real with myself and realized that no one in our group is going to want to eat granola bars in WDW. And I don't need the bandaids, extra changes of clothes, We'll just carry what we can carry and leave the rest at the resort.

Thanks for all of the help! I'm glad there are other people out there who are stroller cheerleaders like me. :)

Really think about the 04 Quest on albee for $129 over the Triumph at BRU if you aren't going the Volo route! $129 is a great deal and it's a nicer stroller for less than the Triumph. Not that the Triumph is bad, it's just the Quest is nicer. The do have some sales on there for the 04 Triumph too. Another thing I liked about the Quest is the extended leg rest.

I know you wanted a strap but for all the more you'll be carrying it, the handle will work. You can always add the combi strap later like the other poster suggested. $129 for a reg. $199 stroller is a sweet deal.

I think I'm going to go with the Quest for ds. For dd, I am going with the Triumph because with the Quest, the seat is so deep and her legs so long that it pushes her knees up higher, if that makes any sense. So the shallowness of the Triumph works for her. For ds though, I think the comfy Quest will be just right.

And you can't beat those Albee baby prices!

LOL...you crack me up....you sound just like me. I have been buying and returning strollers and deciding which to sell since we began planning our trip. I thought I was good to go with the Volo and a Graco. Used the Graco along with the Volo for the day and took back the Graco. Hated it. Bought another Graco this time a Literider out of the pennysaver, decided nah, don't want to use that. I didn't like the basket. I was going to get another Volo or Quest but decided I wanted something a little plusher for my youngest so got the Peg P3. (reasoned with DH on the price being so worth it cause we really needed it and it will be so much better to push and fold, blah, blah, blah.. he finally gave in,LOL) I do love it!

So I now am happy.....for now,lol.
Anyhow, I have got to sell some of my other stroller soon! I have a huge Graco chaufer Coach Rider travel system, Combi, Graco Literider, Graco Double, 2 cheapy umbrella strollers, and now the Volo and the Pliko P3. I need to sell them all but the last two! It's a shame that I bought that huge travel system. I paid over $200 for it last year and it is like new. It's just huge and heavy. I should of been more stroller savy at the time. Live and learn.

Okay, as far as stuff for your trip..... I thought dh was going to take a bus to the moon over what "stuff" we needed for the park. :rotfl2:

I put most things in a really good backpack which we either
a)carried (dh didn't mind the backpack)
b)hung over the handles while a child was in the stroller
c)put in the seat of the strolle when a child was not in the seat

You CANNOT hang a bag on the handles if the child is going to be getting up. 400x's of the stroller tipping and we still continued to make this mistake! ;)

I left our ponchos (the nicer $4-5 ones) folded/out of their bags in the bottom basket in a wal-mart sack. When we needed to fold the stroller I would yank the wal-mart sack out.

My 2 year old drinks a lot of watered down juice so I brought juice boxes that do not need refrideration. (brought about 2 dozen in the suitcase) I would pack two in the backpack daily and use ice and water (free from any counter service or restaurant) to make his juice. I brought ONE Brita water bottle and got free ice to make ice water and used disposable small clear cups to make ice water and serve my family of five for free! ;) No way could I carry water around for the five of us all day or afford to buy it. We were on the meal plan but the last thing we wanted to burn a credit for was water! There was way to many Mickey Bars waiting for us :mickeybar

Also I used zippered bags (sort of like large pencil/supply bags) to section my backpack off so I could grap diapers and wipes and head to the bathroom or reach in and grab their autograph books. A bag with medical supplies, a bag with change of clothes, etc. etc......

Sorry to ramble but I hope these tips can help you a bit.

Okay, for all the yammering I did about this, I thought I'd give an update.

I bought two Quests from Albeebaby.com. DH said he'd put an extra luggage strap on them easily if I wanted. The main reason I chose two Quests was the price and comfort. They were marked down to $129. When I ebay one of them when I get back, I'll be able to get a lot more for them than I would the Triumph, which was priced at $119. In the long run, it is a better deal. Dh doesn't think we'll really need the strap often anyway.

As for dd, I figured out that there was leg rest extender on the Quest we tried. That's why her knees were awkward in it.

I'm so glad you were all able to help! And I'm so glad I got a Quest for ds too, because he was just out of control in his 3 pt harness Graco this weekend.

Thanks for all the help!

Shel
