The Grand Hotel is just huge, and really unique. Make sure you go in the warm weather, like May or June, or in early September. There are no crowds then, except on the weekends. When we went, meals were included in the cost, I don't know if they still are. The rooms are small by modern standards, and no TVs are (or were) in the rooms. But the Grand Hotel has the longest porch in the world, and there are tons of things to do on the island. Take a carriage ride, rent bikes, visit the fort(this site dates back to when the french and english owned Michigan). The island is really unique, there are no vehicles. This is the #1 tourist destination within Michigan for Michiganians.
