Macho Man Randy Savage RIP

I thought he died several years ago. Then I looked the date of the thread. I was right. Glad to know my memory isnt all completely messed up lol

Oh, sheesh - well, I don't follow wrestling, and didn't notice the date. Oops on me

I was a huge Savage fan. He's my favorite all time wrestler. That being said, his family really don't belong. His father, Angelo, was never in WWE/WWF/WWWF. And his brother, Lanny, was never that big of a star.

Oh, I know. They don't belong there really. Savage was just such an icon to the business that I just hate that his wish couldn't be honored. It wouldn't make sense for to be and so if course it won't be but just thinking from emotion, I guess.

Honestly I didn't know he had family in the business until I found out the reasons it was taking so long to put him in.

Like I said, I loved Savage. I met him once in 93, and I got to see him wrestle a few times between 91 and 94. That being said, I always questioned if that was his true wishes. I don't know if anybody ever knew that until after he passed away. It felt to me, like his brother trying to get a little glory. I could be wrong though. And that wasn't the only reason that it took so long to get him in the Hall of Fame. Ever since he walked away from the WWE back in late 94, he was always kind of pushed aside, according to WWE history. Apparently Vince didn't like the way that their relationship ended.

Could be. It was odd, to me, how after Vince bought WCW, some talent was brought over and some not. So many left WWE on bad terms but some were forgiven and others not. So much politics.

Of course, the more ds and dd are in the indies the more I realize the whole wrestling business is that way. Lots of back stabbing, strange loyalities and odd decisions. Truly not always what's "best for business" whether it's the indies or the WWE.

In the end, he wound up marrying the true love of his life and wasn't far from home when he passed. Also- remember: he saved us from the Rapture that year.

Haha I always forget that he died on the day the world was supposed to end. Randy Savage died so that we may live lol

I have the first two anthologies of the Royal Rumble (I think the years are 1987-1994) and I have way too much fun getting mildly intoxicated and watching them.

Nostalgia at its best. I have the original Macho Madness and the first WWE DVD set; haven't gotten the latest one yet. Although his best "wrestling" was from 87-90, I loved his style from 93-96 with the cowboy hat and super loud colors with fringe.
