We are considering a trip to Aulani this July. My son has an anaphylactic allergy to cashews and almonds and after speaking with his allergist she advised me that macadamia nuts would be included in that group. I have been to Hawaii with just my husband and know that mac nuts are everywhere and that makes me nervous. We have been to WDW 2 times since his diagnoses and I know they take allergies very seriously. My biggest concern is with all the mac nuts being served there could be residue/oil almost anywhere...tables, door handles, pool loungers.

I would love to hear from someone who has a similar allergy and has been to Aulani/Hawaii.

TIA

I have no experience with this but wanted to mention that the Disabilities sub-forum may be able to assist as well, if you don't get many responses here. They seem well versed in allergies, Disney's policies, etc.

I too have a severe tree nut allergy, mac nuts being higher on my allergy list.We went to Aulani for the first time two years ago and I had no problems.Follow the same drill you always do, alert every res yer aunt of the allergy and they take the precautions needed. The chef always came out and talked with me about what Inwanplanning on ordering or if it was a buffet, he walked me around and told me exactly what was safe and what was not. There will be times where product are made off site and they will say there could be cross contamination, so you have to decide whether to take that risk or not.I think your son would be fine, but completely understand the concern, just make known the allergy and there very helpful.
