M:S autopsy results

Thanks for the posting. Makes me feel much better.

Have a magical day,
Anna

It's just such a sad situation. High blood pressure can be a deadly killer. Some people do not know that they have it. Very sad.

Thanks for posting follow up.

'I'm sure somebody's posted it somewhere on the other threads, but I'm too tired to search.....

Sorry if this sounds dumb..........what does bleeding of the brain have to do with her high blood pressure? Isn't that completely unrelated? Or are they saying her high blood pressure caused a stroke which caused bleeding of the brain? So basically, the ride caused her blood pressure problem to cause a stroke, right? I'm making sure we all get our blood pressure's checked before going to DW I guess!

They're very-much related: Persistent hypertension is one of the risk factors for arterial aneurysm.

High blood pressure can very easily cause a stroke if not controlled. Not to mention a heart attack. This is why it is so very important to check your blood pressure on a regular basis, particurally if you have family history or are at risk for it due to your physical health (weight, smoking, high stress, etc).

Yup, just had a family member go through the exact same thing - except he survived partially paralized.

HBP--exactly why DS will not go on MS anymore. I couldn't even imagine being there, having a good time, and because my lapse in judgment he ends up sick or worse. Even though his is controlled with meds, this obviously isn't the ride for us.

So sad for this woman and her family (and the little boy and his family).

I'll have to show this to my DH. He has HBP, but MS is one of his favorites. I think, if I know him, he's going to take the risk. And, because he knows the risk, it will be his own fault if something happens. That's where people drive me crazy. They sue when they knew ahead of time what could happen.

DH has high blood pressure now and again, no meds. Its rides like this at WDW that lower his blood pressure due to the relaxation and fun element. Many High bp people have had no problems on this ride, many have had serious probs, which is why anyone with med probs should think twice about riding.

absolutely. my mom went into the hospital in the summer. she is diabetic and overweight. got herself so worked up that during the night her blood pressure shot through the roof and she had a stroke. :guilty: thank god it was in the hospital. we left her at the hospital sat. night sick to wake up to phone calls sunday morning that she had a stroke during the night. it can happen so easily. :confused3 thankfully she is doing well. but it very well could have happened to the woman on MS. i feel bad for the family. i know i read the warnings and didn't go on bc of my sensitive stomach. i'm glad i didn't bc i prob would have thrown up for days! i just kept going on soarin'!

I love mission space and I have high blood pressure. I haven't been on MS since I found out that I have HBP, but now am on medicine that controls it. Should I be OK on this ride...I don't know that I can skip it. I feel so much better now after being on BP medicine.

My Dad had VERY high blood pressure his whole life and as he got older it got worse, but for whatever reason he refused to take the meds thinking he didn't need it. He suffered a massive stroke due to a massive bleed in his brain - he was not supposed to live but he did, and is now completely paralized on the right side of his body.

My sister was just diagnosed with high blood pressure and they put her on medication...she likes to get on the ride...but because of the puke factor I don't think we will do mission space...I am the whimp...but do you think it is ok for her to do other rides?? My mom also has high blood pressure...only thing is hers is really bad and takes like 5 meds for it...just wondering what they can ride???

You should probably run it by your doctor.
