Cast:

Angel (Mandy) – age unknown but a very young looking person considering the stress! Shopaholic extraordinaire, pitiful drinker, and looking for some r & r.

Chunkster20uk (Mark) – a little bit younger but looks much older (ouch, stop that!) since we got married last year and he acquired a wife and step daughter ;) – foodaholic, drinks with the big boys, just wants to have some fun.

Joining us for the cruise:

Deb & Matt, and Kev & Tammy – the 4 musketeers, Disney-loving friends from The DIS, our resident comedy entertainers and drinking companions.

Becky (16) – not coming with us but I talk about her a lot!! – my baby, who’s not such a baby now, staying at home with Nan to look after her. Rock chick, cool gal and other phrases she’d laugh at me for saying.

Sunday 28th Nov – we’re off!

Spent a very sleepless night worrying how I should explain to Mark that Id also managed to leave my Thyroxine at home…so much for a relaxing night at the airport before we fly! Im really not usually this disorganized…honest!!! At least I have a repeat prescription with me so it cant be that bad eh? We were up by 6.45 and I managed to confess to Mark…and no he still didn’t shout at me…see what I mean?

PE check in is a breeze, we try not to look too snooty at those in the long economy queue, after all that’s normally us. No upgrade sadly as the flight isn’t full, but Im more than happy Im flying PE, and we get the seats we’d pre booked…..73J & K I think, something like that. I declare my epi-pen just in case they think Im going to stick into someone on board…..well you never know! They don’t seem at all interested though. Then its off to pick up our money…WITH the credit card this time…..phew! That done we have to locate a Boots to see about getting some emergency tablets. This is easy as I have the repeat script and although I have to pay for it, its only £6 so not too bad.

Let’s hope I haven’t forgotten anything else eh? Straight thru to the departure lounge as I cant really face looking round the shops (shock horror sorry girls) after costing Mark nearly £100 in cabs, trains and chemist bills we hadn’t foreseen. No queues at security either and breakfast in the metro café overlooking the runway. I have a ham and mozzarella panini but for some strange reason they’ve put mayo in it and it’s pretty strange so drink my coffee instead, and watch the planes for a bit.

However you cant keep me down for long and the lure of duty free is calling…..

Manage to buy some perfume for myself, Pink by Victoria’s Secret (my usual Truth seems very expensive here) and some Burberry Brit for Becky (wish Id waited til I got to the malls though it would have been far cheaper). The Mac make up is much dearer here, same price as we bought it in London the week before so I decide to wait to get that and settle for the perfume…oh and some Clarins moisturiser. I look for Mark’s fave after shave too but they don’t have it, so we have to wait for that too. Browse in the book shop and buy a couple of books to keep us happy, the latest Mike Gayle for Mark and a really good trashy novel for me as antidote to all that high brow literature Ive been reading lately!

Soon we ‘re off to Gate 21 where we have to queue outside the lounge before we’re allowed in…I find this very odd, but it actually worked quite well, being checked as we go into the lounge. We were called almost as soon as we'd sat down…..I like this getting on early! We’re the 2nd people on the plane and its really exciting to me (I know Im sad) to climb up those steps to the bubble! There seems to be loads of room around our seats and I really like the little lockers at the side of my window seat, it means I can bung all my stuff out of the way (including my shoes!) I even have room to wiggle into my very attractive flights socks…oh how lovely they look, should’ve taken a picture! We do find they’re still not very wide though as they have the drinks ledge between the seats and Marks is still not able to use the TV controls unless he stands up which is a real pain.. Apparently on the refurbished planes this is not an issue as the controller pulls out of the seat instead…good!!!

Im well at home in PE though, sipping my champagne with my feet up on the leg rest! Its really quiet too with no young children at all, just one girl of about 12. The service is excellent and we are offered drinks all the time! Mark has loads in the hope he can sleep to make up for the night before…he also managed to read the whole he bought!!! Doesn’t work though and he still cant sleep, poor thing.

We eat a very good beef casserole with a scrummy chocolate mousse to follow and I laugh til my sides ache at Shrek 2 which I hadn’t seen before. I manage to doze, thanks to the wine and champagne and I find my legs are really good thanks to the lovely socks. It’s a very smooth flight and much less claustrophobic I find up here in the bubble….I want to do this all the time now! We take a different route than usual, over the sea, and fly in over Cape Canaveral. I manage to see the massive NASA vehicle assembly building and a couple of launch pads which is cool….then we’re landing at Orlando mco…….yay!

We land just after 3 and are off the plane at 3.15, through immigration (which would have been quicker if the family in front had actually filled out their green forms….GRRRRRRRRRRR) we’re then pulled out to have our cases scanned at customs but even this takes only seconds as its so quiet! Our cases are again waiting for us at the second belt and all in all its taken only 35 minutes from landing!

Unfortunately as our flight was early, and we’re so quick getting out, Happy Limo are not around so we have to wait a while for the driver to reach us. Still, that’s a minor thing as we’re here at last! Hurrah!!! A big black SUV Explorer (so Mark says) picks us up and we stop on the way for essentials – that is, beer, mountain dew, Dr Pepper, Krispy Kremes and chips, water juice and coffee. We’re in the villa by 5pm and yay we’re home 

The villa is as lovely as last time, and there’s a big Xmas tree in the hall as you walk in…it looks lovely. The table is all laid for dinner, with a couple of bottles of wine – what a nice touch. Sadly there’s a problem with the pool so we cant jump straight in as we’d like to, but we don’t let this upset us and after unpacking we order subs and mark goes mad and orders enough food for a dozen people! End up throwing most of it away and cant stay awake past 7pm….OMG we’re soooooo sad!!!! Asleep like a light but don’t reckon we’ll sleep very late do you?

:earboy2:

... did you get a good rate for PE? If so, may I asked who you booked your flights with :smooth: ?

Everything sounding a LOT better than yesterday!

What a lovely way to travel ;)
