M A C Makeup

I love Mac:goodvibes:goodvibes I've been using them for 16 yrs. Their eye shadows last for years. The good thing is, if you do not like the color they will return it. Considering it is not much more than brands at Target, the colors or more intense and you can return it, I always feel that it is more than worth it.

Better yet, because you can try things on in the store, I've never been unhappy.

i always have ahard time w/foundation as i feel it on or i feel it just does not look totally naturaly i do like tinted moisturizer - currently using Loreal - does Mac carry tinted moisturizer? perhaps because i'm not a big makeup person at all..

MAC does carry tinted moisturizer. :goodvibes It's called Studio Moisture Tint. The only reason I don't use this is because my oily skin 'eats it'.

I love the MAC Blot powder, been using it for years. I will have to try the Studio Fix that you all are talking about (powder or liquid?). I also love the Viva Glam lipgloss!

AGREED! Plus, my MAC makeup has *always* looked vibrant even in the crazy August Florida heat! :cloud9: The most I had to do was a touch-up with 'blot' powder (because I have such oily skin) but my eye makeup and foundation looked awesome!

Another thing about the eye shadows, if you go to a MAC Boutique you can get a pro pallette which holds 4 - 16 shadows. It is so compact it hardly takes up that much space in your luggage. :goodvibes

Mac has some of the best pigments but heres my warning there products go rancid fast. I have a family member who is a Leading mac makeup artist and its the one thing she complains about. Also one a side not I love Love love there brushes. So stock up on those and I'd try to buy them when they do there holiday bundles much more affordable. Otherwise go for it if you where make up often if you like things a little more subtle I'm a huge fan of Jane irrdale cosmetics I love her shadows and I like BE but only as a face powder. I like guerlain for lipsticks and givenchy for shadows also chanel. truthfully spend a day in the dept stores nordstrom or bloomies are good and take your time check out the colors test shadows on your hand for texture and pigment ditto with lipsticks smell them I know that sounds odd but some cosmetics dont smell good or are perfumy. When you find some you like have them give you a makeover and have them do it with colors you'd wear then wear it for the day see how it holds up and what you like then you can stock up and become the diva product ***** we are all born to be lol. Been using MAC for 10 yrs and love all their products, Definately worth the money. Actually, I don't think MAC is expensive at all compared to the quality you are getting.

A little OT, but is it only near me where the Mac counter is full of people with purple or green hair, TONS of really dark eye makeup and men in full makeup doing the makeovers?? It scares me!!

They are usually the ones that give you the best makeovers! I love MAC.....the concealer is my favorite.

I only use MAC now. I use the Mineralize Satinfinish foundation and it isn't as heavy as the Studio Fix. Last year I wanted to change up my eye shadows some and walked into the store in Las Vegas (while on vacation) and told the woman with the bright pink hair what I was looking for - a "browny pinky color" and she pulled exactly what I was looking for.

I got a make over for free at a counter in a Macy's store.

My only problem is that they don't sell MAC within 2 hours of me, so I have to plan accordingly and buy products that I am running low on when I am around them. Luckily for me, when dh travels he will comment on being near a MAC store and ask if there is anything I need .

love MAC too:thumbsup2
I use the eyeliner, the gel one in the little pot, they have nice colors, and also use the lipstick,
I want to try some other products too

I LOVE MAC's lipglosses because of four things:
  1. Vivid colors (from pastel to super bright)
  2. Performance (different formulas for different color appearance)
  3. Great moisturizing ingredients (shea butter, jojoba oil)
  4. I haven't had an allergic reaction

My favorite lipgloss formulas are the Lustreglass and the Dazzleglass. The former is lighter weight and the latter is so heavy you can drink a cup of coffee and the color is still on! :lmao:

Plus if you live near a MAC boutique, you can trade in your six empty containers for a lipgloss!

Love Dazzleglass! I have way too many!!! I just got a plushglass for the first time. Plus they all smell great like vanilla frosting.

I love MAC eye shadows but I hate their prices. I found a brand called Coastal Scents and their shadows have the same great pigment of MAC and are affordable. They also have hot pots that are the same size as MAC.

MAc make works for me. My face is sensitive and certain things will work at first then i start getting dry patches or breakout. Mac didnt do this to my face. My father n law gave me a $50 giftcard to Macy's and i had no idea what to buy so dh told me give mac a try cuz theres no excuse about $$ since i had the gc.

I bought studio fix foundation in the compact and powder. I think i've been using Mac for 5 years now. It last me a longtime because i dont use a lot of make up. When i go to a party then i wear a lil more. To me MAc is out of my budget and normally wouldnt spend that much on make up but since my father n law gives me a giftcard to Macys for my b-day then I buy it since i dont fit into the clothes there that i like-lol! My mac collection is foundation studio fix, blush, lip liner and lipstick.

BTW- how long does make up last i think i've had my lip liner for a year and lipstick for almost 2 years. I buy the foundation once a year.

do they still let you turn in x amount of old mac products(recycle program) for a new lipstick?if so how many need to turned in

Do they do any kind of free makeover for teens? My teen commented the other day that she still doesn't wear makeup and I think it would be nice for someone with a bit more knowledge to give her a makeup lesson/makeover for her skin tone...etc. She's a lot lighter than I am, different color eyes...etc and I'm sure my makeup would look horrible on her young skin LOL

I think there stuff is awesome quality, but then again I'm a makeup snob and only use department store/sephora based line. The one warning about MAC is a lot of there stuff is very bright/intensely colored. I often think there make-overs are a little overboard, not to say you can't find nice neutrals. Personally I would reccomend Sephora (as they can pull from multiple lines) or Clinique or Bobbi Brown. They're the same quality roughly the same price and more natural in my opinion

Funny how we all define "snob." MY sis thinks MAC is too low end and calls it the Wal-Mart of Department Store MU :rotfl::rotfl:. I however, think y'all are paying for the name!

The folks at MAC could definitely do that. I've seen them give makeovers for teens right before Prom as well. A lot of moms are right there to give feedback to the makeup arists. :thumbsup2

And speaking of coloring, I will say flat-out that I prefer MAC's pigments for eye shadow because they stay 'true'. If I use an aqua shade, it needs to stay aqua, not turn into some chalk blue color I don't recognize. I've used Clinique (ugh), Lancome (lousy), L'oreal (a bit better) among other names. And I won't touch Sephora eye makeup with a ten foot pole because they turn 'ashy' on me as does a lot of drugstore makeup. Not wasting my money on that--I'll stick with my MAC. Thank you very much. :lmao:

And yes, they still do the 'return 6 empty containers, get a free lipgloss'. I just checked at the MAC boutique today. :thumbsup2

It has just been a few weeks but I am loving my MAC make up. I just love how late in the afternoon I don't look washed out like I use to.

How long should the primer last for? I often end up squeezing out too much and not sure how to avoid this. I have started storing it so that it is standing out and hopefully I won't have to squeeze it.

To clarify, the Back2MAC program requires 6 'empties' to echange for a lipstick (at counters in department stores) or a lipstick, lipgloss or eyeshadow (at free-standing MAC stores).

MAC is okay. Not my favorite, but not bad. They shine in their range of colors and brushes. There are much better eye shadows out there such as Dior, which are buttery, smooth, and more strongly pigmented, but you pay more for them as well. Chanel and Armani carry some of the most beautiful foundations. Nars is my go to for blush, and you can't beat Kevyn Aucoin for mascara. (Though, most of the Aucoin line is fantastic! But it's harder to work with due to the levels of pigment in each product. It really is a professional line.)

Don't limit yourself to one brand. Makeup is made to be played with! Each line will have good things and not so great things and MAC is no different. Don't discount drugstore brands, either. You can find some products that would challenge even the most expensive brands for quality without paying the price tag.
