That's just

. Please tell me Lysol used to have a different formula at least!
Seriously, I can't imagine the number of infections and irritations that have been caused by ads that have somehow convinced women that a self-cleaning part of their body needs special cleaning products
On a lighter note, perhaps my father saw one of these ads and that's where he got his bright idea to use lysol to take care of his jock itch! (This was in 1981--I'm pretty sure long after Lysol was being marketed solely as a surface and not a genital cleaner). Bad enough idea to begin with, but even better he decided to do this while he and my mom were trying to conceive (ME!). My mom didn't find out until after she was pregnant that he'd been doing this for a few months. She immediately worried that his sperm would be seriously defective and called the doctor to ask. The doctor obviously thought my father was nuts but assured my mom that he didn't think the Lysol could actually penetrate through the skin and into the sperm to cause any trouble.
