Luxo Jr. Lamp

I Just found out about the dancing luxo jr. lamp that was at hollywood studios. It looks like it was only there a short time before disney pulled the plug (no pun intended!). Does anyone know why this guy was so short lived and whether we'll see him again some time in the future? Thanks!

1- Yes.
2- Major chronic technical problems. He broke down very frequently.
3- Doubtful, but anything is possible.

Just like the Yeti on Expedition Everest, Luxo Jr was an amazing technology created by the Imagineers but not properly maintained and now doesn't work at all.

Not a maintenance issue.

Luxo, Jr. just never worked reliably for any extended period of time.

I spent many hours that I will never get back waiting and watching Luxo. Even when it did come out it had problems. It was a cute idea but just didn't work.

You remember correctly about there being a copyright dispute between Disney and Pixar.
There was a issue at the time.

However, it was taken care of at that time, as well.
The Luxo Jr. animatronic was cleared for use at the Studios.

The remaining issue, that of the animatronic not performing reliably,
was never solved before the animatronic Luxo Jr.'s short life was finally switched off.

We got to see him once after trying to catch him about half a dozen times. We only get to the park maybe two or three times a year. The one time we did get to see him, he seemed to work just fine and was very cute. My son has always loved Pixar and Luxo.

We thought Luxo Jr. was really a fun touch, with little dance routines and all.
