Lurker trying to come out of her shell

Hi all,
I've been listening to the Podcast since it began and (mostly) lurking on the Boards for years. I don't get to visit the World nearly as much as I would like - so I don't always feel comfortable jumping in on the threads in the Trip Planning forums since there are others with way more experience than I that can give more current/better advice. However, I just discovered this Podcast forum and have really enjoyed the little community you have built up here. Despite my usual shyness, I've decided to really try and come out of my shell and participate a little more.

After reading that so many members of this community recommended the Keurig, I bought one a couple of weeks ago and love, love, love it! I follow Kathy on Facebook and have gotten a lot of good tips on new K-Cups to try - thanks Kathy!

And since that group recommendation worked out so well, after reading all the positive comments (and hearing Kevin's raves) I took the plunge & bought myself a Kindle - which I am also loving so far!

I was wondering if any of you experienced Kindle-lovers can give some tips to a newby on how to protect my new purchase from my usual clumsy self. Do you have a cover you use/like? Do you think I need a plastic screen cover or one of those gel-skins? And, of course, if you have any great books you've come across lately, I'd love to hear about them!

I don't have a Kindle, but I know Kevin loves the Oberon covers.

I am currently reading the new Fanny Flag book "I Still Dream About You."
It isn't as good as Fried Green Tomatoes or Can't Wait to get to Heaven, but I'm enjoying it.

Yeah, I have a leather cover for my Kindle that works great. It's a little heavy, though.

Where in Brooklyn do you live? I spent a few years in Bay Ridge.

I love my Kindle and have a Oberon cover that I love. I was going to order a decal for the Kindle from decalgirl.com but then realized that my cover would hide it so I decided to save my money. That website had some really pretty decals.

I sat next to a woman on my last flight who had a cover she ordered off Amazon. She was very happy with it, she said it survived her dropping it several times. I didn't get the manufacterer name though.

Welcome - glad you stepped out. I too was "talked into" a Keurig by this disboard and am VERY HAPPY I was. I do have a kindle and just use the basic leather cover from Amazon. I wanted a soft cover that zipped all around (like my friend got from Target) but DH wasn't listening when he bought me the Kindle and cover for Christmas. It works fine though. I like the looks of the Oberon covers but they are a bit pricey for me.
